I was going to buy a New 3DS XL when it goes on sale but now that they have the New 2DS XL I am considering buying that instead. I know the SD card slot is much more accessible on the New 2DS XL but what I am really wondering about is the 3D. Those of you that owned an original 3DS and now own a New 3DS, do you use the 3D more with the New 3DS? Obviously that would be the only reason to buy the New 3DS XL is if the 3D is worth it.

The 3D on the N3DS/XL is much better than on the O3DS/XL, but it really depends, there's a few games which are great with it on but makes no difference in the end. If I didn't own any but tried them all I'd buy the N2DSXL.

I own a N3DS XL and I can say that I never cared about the 3D. If anything it makes my head hurts after several minutes. With microSd management through network and Freeshop nowadays, the position of the SD slot should not matter.

In the end the 2DSXL looks cooler and lighter (260g vs 330g, quite a huge difference), while the N3DSXL is sturdier and might survive more drops. These are the things that actually matter and worth considering.

I just picked up a New 2DS XL. Very happy with it. Feels well made.

I didn't use the 3D feature EVER
Cool. I am assuming you have or had an original 3DS since you have Boot9Strap/Luma on your New 2DS XL and I know that requires a system transfer from an already hacked system.

I never use the 3D on my N3DS XL. Just always felt gimmicky to me.

Have an Orange and Black N3DS XL and just got a white 2DS XL. So far I think i will use the 2DS XL as my daily machine as its lighter and i don't care about putting it in a case, the outside seems reasonably scratch proof.

Interested to hear that the battery is a lot smaller capacity than the N3DS XL battery tho, that's a bummer.

goto a store that has it on demo and try the 3d yourself. I personally like the 3d feature on the n3dsxl is much better than on the o3ds.

Up to you If you want a cheaper console and you don't care about the 3D feature then go new 2dsxl if you want to the 3D feature then go new 3ds xl. I own two new 3ds xl and the 3D is a nice feature for a few games but other than that I don't use 3D at all.

Correct.

On that note, I've actually owned every revision of every Nintendo handheld over my lifetime :) Hopefully the 2DS XL will be the last stop.

Can't wait to see the Switch XL
