Hi Folks

I have followed the guide to udgrade from arm9lh to b9s and it works fine but I am stuck on 11.0.0.33e and when I try to update through the system settings it just fails.

I have updated luma to 8.1
I can boot without the sd card
I have tried to manually input the dns
i have tried the automatic settings
I have tried with the firewall turned off on my router
I have rebooted the router
I have tried in the recovery mode
I have searched the net

I need some help please.
I am using an old 3ds

I get "an error has occurred the system will now turn off"

I would love to be able to update and make a mii to enable my little one to play super mario maker.

Thanks in advance

That looks like a good idea, however since I upgraded to b9s the memory card is no longer accessable in Windows on my pc.

I don't know. Until I did the upgrade I could and did write to the SD to complete the upgrade however now I can not.

In the 3ds I can write to it and install from the free shop etc.

I think you are correct. I used god 9 and then unlocked and then relocked the card, but I don't know how to leave it unlocked?

An update.

Yes the sd card was write protected.

I have now unlocked it and used 3dnus to download a cia of 11.4.0-37E for the old 3ds and installed sysdowngrader.
I have put the firmware in the update folder on the root of sd, however when i run sysdowngrader and press a to update I get a failed message checking for am:u did not get am:u handle.

Any ideas?

Try using the CIA version?

Both failed.

Thanks

No because it might not remove the existing cia and install the replacement one at the right times. You can try though, just back up your NAND beforehand so you can recover if anything goes wrong.

What are your DNS settings? Are they set to automatic?
Also, have you blocked any Nintendo servers from your router using another guide when hacking your Wii U or anything else? Just checking.

It does sound like a DNS issue. You can try Nintendo's fix:
http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/673/p/48/c/630

If all that doesn't work, then try this:
First, turn your Nintendo 3DS or 3DS XL off. Then turn the power on again, and immediately hold down the L button, R button, A button, and up on the d-pad. Keep holding the buttons until the system update screen boots up again. Then tap "OK" on the update screen.

Try a new sd card?
Kek. Such a simple suggestion, but that may totally work. I don't know why the easiest stuff doesn't come to mind.
You're right. Just put a blank SD on there, let the 3DS format it, then do the system update. If all they want is the newest firmware, that's an easy fix. Then, just put your original SD in there after the update.

Hard drives are a nightmare. I have a Seagate that had so much data on it. All lost.
And people say to make two backups of everything in case one of the backups gets ruined, which is just ridiculously expensive when you end up having so much data. Imagine this...I'd have to have two backups of my Xbox external drive, Wii U, Gamecube, PS4, four for Mac, one for PC/laptop, and all the extras I have. My house would look insane with that many hard drives. And it's just not economically feasible.
