Hi,

So I recently decided to get into modding 3DS's and decided to purchase a pre-modded 3DS instead of screwing around with my current one for safety's sake. Has anyone had any experience in dealing with Pokedit, Cake or that website in general? I apologize if this thread is in the wrong place.

Hello,
I really think you shoudn't do that.

Why ? Because they make you pay for something you can do yourself without difficulties.
Try to read this guide: 3ds.guide
I was really scary when i modded my 3dss, but it's not difficult :)

Modding a 3DS is pretty easy these days all you really need is a 3DS that is on firmware 4.0.0 to 11.3 firmware

Eh, I don't have access to that stuff currently. And I looked at multiple guides. My current 3DS is stuck on 11.5.0.38u, and I was too late to jump on the freakyhax bandwagon too lol.

That's really overpriced.
You can get a softmodded used console that doesn't cost too much.
But modding it yourself only takes half a hour to an hour and there's almost no chance of bricking, plus then you will know more about how the softmod works, how to update it, how to fix it if something goes wrong, and so on.

Hmm, interesting. Wish I had access to a softmodded DSiware 3ds but I don't currently. Thanks for the input though! :)

I appreciate the help and input guys. I think I'll stick around the forums if I have future questions, and I think I'll try hunting at gamestop for an 11.3 New 3DS XL

225$ for a 2DS?!? That is literally robbery and that site is grossly exploiting people!
Site keeps getting worse the more I look at it

And the version of freeShop they provide is from the no longer supported version. So everything this guy is selling is out of date and overpriced.

OP: So you can actually buy a 2DS from any store right now for $79.99 (so 80$.) And considering the timing of the shipments and other factors, they should either be on 11.3 or below. If you have the money, I suggest going to the store, buying a 2DS, and getting yourself going with some lovely hacking

Damn, I feel like an idiot for even considering that site lol. Would any 2DS model do it? Like say the newer 2DS model? Or would the exploits only be for the original 2DS?

All consoles on all versions are 100% moddable, but some versions (9.0 through 11.3, and to a lesser extent 4.0-8.1 with a browser) are easier
The physical model doesn't matter :)

are you interested only on 2DS or new 3dsXL?
try asking the store what FW in 3DS and if you can check it in front of him before buying.
but it mostly you can find FW less then 11.3 in old 2DS.

that's true, but he is trying to get one that's easy to mod,the new 2DSXL and some of n3DS XL are on 11.4,and you need hardmod or DSi transfer,he doesn't have another 3DS,and hardmod is not for everyone.

Either the 2DS XL or the 3DS XL (new or old) would work in my case. I guess I'd have to locate a used one and check the firmware prior to purchasing. 11.3 Soundhax seems to be the only one I could do without any sort of soldering.

Actually I am proud to report that I went out to an old video game store in town, picked up an 11.3.0.36U old 3DS and properly homebrew + luma modded it. I do feel quite proud of myself for that one, thank you all for the suggestions!

Now I have a new question regarding whether I can take what I've done with the homebrewed console and transfer it to the New 3DS XL Model via a system transfer and swapping the SD cards by any chance? Should I just post this in a new thread? :P Thanks again everyone!
