Square Enix's Lost Sphear launch date revealed

image.jpeg

Though I Am Setsuna released in July of last year, Square Enix's smaller development studio, Tokyo RPG Factory, plans to create a spiritual successor to the game. Revealed at this year's E3 and titled as "Lost Sphear", it plans to be another "classic" styled Japanese role playing game, with the same watercolor art style that I Am Setsuna boasted. Announced through the official PlayStation Blog today, it's set to release in the west on January 23, 2018, for PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Featured in the latest press release, is Lost Sphear's main cast, and the new 'Vulcosuit' armor, which impacts both battles and overworld travel.

Ooh! PC and Switch! Neato. Hopefully unlike "I Am Setsuna" it has an actual interesting premise besides literally the plot of Final Fantasy X.

I have a strong feeling the post that was removed was one of those "first" posts.

In the end I found I am Setsuna very mediocre, and the fact that they used the exact same engine makes me already look at this title with scepsis.

It even looks like IAS. xD

I wanna get a physical copy of IAS for the Switch but waiting that a USA/EUR release is made over the JPN one.

Now, hold on a minute. The engine wasn't I Am Setsuna's problem, it was its mediocrity. Tokyo RPG Factory's engine is serviceable, they just need to populate the game with better content.

Is I am setsuna even good? Is $40 on nintendo switch eshop and no retail cart. O_O

I mean it says in description is like chrono trigger, but I can't believe it till I play it, and I'm not paying $40 for a download only title.

Now I doubt this gets a retail release but a man can dream.... I'll probably still get it.

Hmmm......

Me neither which is why I'm still waiting for a EUR/USA physical release, don't wanna pay so much for a digital game.

It's not going to happen, so I wouldn't hold my breath on a US physical release of it. Amazon JPN sells the game too and ships to the US (as long as Amazon sells the title themselves, not 3rd parties).

It's in English (on the cart), so what's the issue?

European retailers have it listed so given that The Lost Sphear is getting a hard copy in 2018 there is a possibility.

So it's gonna be a case of Puyo Puyo Tetris where the physical release is $10 more than the digital?

It's a good game and you can get the physical release but it is a Japanese import.

Just curious: why not? It's the same game, digital or physical. I'm assuming you don't want to spend so much for a digital game because you can't resell it later? I can understand that. I Am Setsuna doesn't have any replayability value. You play through it once, you've seen everything.

With physical copies I can always just pop in the disc/cart on said branded console and that's that, with digital I have to download and if I want to play on another one I'll have to redownload it.

I know that disc games nowadays require to be installed to the HDD and also lots of day 1 patches but still better for me.
