Hello all,

I'm about to take out the Wii again to play some Gamecube game since i never really tried it out before. My plan is to use Nintendont and use a Gamecube controller for it. I have seen some controllers that is made for the WiiU and is compatible for the Wii. Will this controller work with Nintendont (picture attached)? After some researching it looks like it connects to the WiiMote, i don't mind this as long as it works.

Another question is, back in the Playstation 1 days in Metal Gear Solid, battle with Psycho Mantis. You need to switch controller ports, if its similar to the Gamecube version (never tried) i'll need to switch controller ports. How would this work on the GameCube Wiimote version?

Many Thanks

Nintendon't can support and emulates Wii and Nunchuck as a "Gamecube Controller"
Since Smash controllers are the same as Gamecube Controllers, they will work perfectly.
How would this work on the GameCube Wiimote version?
You cannot switch Wii controllers, to do that, you need another controller, disconnect the first player, and play with the second controller.

I have the Samus edition and they are basically Classic Controllers disguised as a GameCube Controller. It works flawlessly because it was licensed by Nintendo and works exactly like one, unlike bootleg Controllers which only work inside Wii games because they work differently and their drivers are not recognized by libogc.
The only downside of this controller is that they cheapened on the "plastic mushrooms" on the analog stick and although it was designed for Smash, I don't think they will survive for more than one day. Mine broke on two only playing Mario Kart 8 which is not a very intensive game for the analog sticks, but I managed to repair using epoxi.

About the changing ports of Metal Gear Solid, I didnt test to connect on multiple controllers because I don't like this "remastered" version. But I know that trick designed to allow players with busted controller ports still works.

If you fail against Psycho Mantis after calling Campbell enough times to hear him tell you about switching the controller port, calling him again will initiate this conversation and alternate solution. This was probably added just in case someone had a legitimate problem with their controller port

The gamecube l and r are analog but on the hori pad they are buttons. They dont effect gameplay much.

Ahh, i got what you mean. I don't think it'll affect me too much. I mainly want to play some RPGs. Many thanks for your help!

I'll have a look at that too.

Yes, this controller doesnt have analog triggers but, to be honest, most of the games dont make good use of this functionality, especially because GameCube is a little bit weak regarding of racing games, which is the type of game that use it the most. Only F Zero GX does use it well and it works fine without it. Mario Kart and such doesnt use triggers at all.
