My DSi XL had problems with the card and I used the paper method and now it works, but it's a pain to get it out. I was wondering if it would be possible to take the pins of the MicroSD reader and solder them to a MiniUsb port?
Please tell me in the replies if it would be possible!

You would still need to install a form of memory directly into cart itself. In theory, it could be possible to solder a mini-usb port directly to the microSD card and install that directly into the cart itself. It would be a tight fit, but it's theoretically possible.
I don't have any guides to setting something like that up.

What you're thinking of would be like 3DS hardmods, it may look like a USB port but if you try to plug a regular USB cable into it you're going to fry something.
You would still need a USB MicroSD/SD reader between the MicroSD card and the USB port to actually interface between the card and the PC. You could probably build that into the cable itself, there are MicroSD readers small enough to fit inside a USB cable. But you'd have to be careful never to plug a regular USB cable into it, better to use another connector that can't be mistaken for something else.

Hmm. That sounds like a WAY better idea :P

I don't have a solid answer beyond reassuring you that it might be possible. If you have some extra money and know what you are doing, you should be able to find a layout for the pins on your microSD card and start there.

question...
it's possible to just use 4 wires? i know that in the 3ds hardmod connected to pc, you use 4 but..

the micro sd has 1 unnused pin, you can ditch that, the 2 ground i guess it can be turned into just 1. but what about the 6 other pins?

I was thinking about that... But what if you use a MicroSD to USB and put it on the "contraption"?

sorry i don't understand what do you mean...

btw, keep in mind, usb and sd are totally different protocols...
you can't use one of thoose micro sd to usb adapters plugged to a micro usb port soldered to the flashcart..
unless you open the thing up, remove the pcb, and turn into "passive"

Not really sure. 3DS uses eMMC, which is similar to the SD standard, but the communication protocol is different. eMMC can definitely work with just 4 pins but I don't know if a SD card will.
