using usb loader gx on vWii and backup games / installed forwarders work. but built-in channels dont. also "wii menu" doesnt either. i already patched ios80 cIOS249 cIOS250 cIOS251 ios58 etc... idk why preinstalled titles dont work. any ideas? basically it freezes black.

Are you sure you used vWii IOSes?
You should never patch IOS80 unless you need the SD Card Menu functionality. If you use the vWii version you technically shouldn't run into any problems, but if you use a Wii version, or the patching goes wrong somehow, you'll brick your Wii System Menu (which sounds like what happened to you)
And you should never, ever, modify IOS58. Any change to IOS58 will prevent HBC from working, and also prevent HackMii Installer from working.

Edit: I edited my post after you liked it, just FYI, so you read the latest post.

i used the vwii ios80 installer as in wiiu.guide . ios58 is preinstalled nothing else is needed there. usb loader gx is already vWii compatible. i installed all the cIOS correctly (i know the difference between Wii and vWii). i can launch backups.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

but whenever i load preinstalled titles or try to return to the main menu it freezes black. i havent done anything to it that wasnt in the guide. i havent done special mods or anything.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

well i am using the uStealth modified version for usb because i dislike the "do you wish to format" thing. i heard the newer versions have it built-in tho. lemme grab that and see if it works afterwards.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

nope. official build freezes too.

Don't double post, edit your post instead.
I edited my post after you replied, adding some new info, you should read it.
Anyway, had you only edited IOS80 you would be able to boot into HBC using hbl2hbc from the Wii U side. Had you only edited IOS58 you would be able to boot into vWii and probably boot an USB loader or other channel in order to solve the problem.
But, most likely you can still get into Super Smash Bros Brawl by using hbl2hbc to boot into a custom title. If you own Brawl, you can load Smash Stack with it, and from there install a channel (such as YAWMM), that'll allow you to restore the original IOSes. You'll still need someone to provide the original IOSes for you, as you can't simply download them with NUSD. But you may be able to find them online on some warez/ISO site.
But if that doesn't work or you don't own Brawl, you'll have to restore it from the Wii U side, by using wupserver/ftpiiu everywhere (both require CFW on the Wii U side), I have zero experience with this but maybe @Cyan will be able to help you, I've seen him help out other people with similar issues but I don't know if he succeeded or not.

i can use homebrew channel, usb loader gx and everything fine. it just freezes on built-in apps (from inside usb loader gx channel view) vWii is unpatched aside from cIOS which were properly installed. i think you misunderstand. i cant launch built in vWii titles with usb loader gx. i can launch them fine from vWii menu. i just like having usb loader be my menu. i havent modified anything aside from what wiiu.guide told me to.

Oh okay.
In that case, post a sysCheck: https://gbatemp.net/threads/posting-a-system-check.300279/

no i didnt. i made sure to check everything as installed. im a very cautious person. and hopefully.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

basically "wii u menu" "mii channel" "disc channel" "wii system transfer" "wii shop"and returning "wii menu" (option in usb loader). dont work from within usb loader gx. but they work perfectly fine from vWii menu. also installed channels / backups work fine strangely.

Those actually look pretty normal, as far as I can tell you didn't install any patched IOS58 or IOS80.
You can't make USB Loader GX be your default menu on vWii though. As much as I would like to myself, Priiloader and BootMii simply aren't compatible, so there's no way to change USB Loader GX to be the default menu.
But I suggest you switch to d2x-v10-beta52, it seems to have better compatibility for some drives.
I can't really help you more than that.

the problem is 52 freezes in my usb. also i dont have wifi at home. and also 53-alt was working before. ^^" i suppose i could go out and install base 56 57 58 into 252 253 and 254 with 52 in order to have 6 slots to choose from.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

specificly it freezes on load. but not if i insert afterwards. and like i said i didnt modify anything besides what the guide said.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

and i know priiloader and bootmii dont work. i have to manually launch usb loader. but i still like it nonetheless. my main complaint is i cant use wii u menu to return to wii u mode. and i cant use return to wii menu to get to wii u mode the normal way either.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

it boots these fine without my usb tho ;-; and thats what makes me the saddest. because id have to remove and insert my usb... maybe it doesnt like uStealth usb. lemme undo that and try it.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

update: usb loader gx wont launch pre-installed channels (or homebrew channel) with a uStealth'd usb... rip.

also "wii u menu" doesnt launch regardless. btw does there exist a patch that removes the format nag?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

actually nvm. they still dont launch. wii menu will launch when i un-uStealth tho...

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

yea. i have no clue why its being like this. suggestions are welcome. ill try the 52-beta thing tomorrow.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

wiiflow launches all the built-in channels perfectly tho ;-; but its ui is so weird ;-; this is why i think its specificly a usb loader problem.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

also i know its not a problem with the cIOS because it only applies for backup loading. and that works fine.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

basically. theres no problems with ios or cIOS i fucked up a setting somewhere in usb loader or something (im unsure but the fact wiiflow works leads me to believe this.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

and i was right. returning usb loader to default settings fixed it.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

so i found the issue. it seems to be how usb loader handles the "return to" option.

The "return to" option should work as long as you choose a valid channel (it has to be an installed channel, you can't return to just any homebrew), though I don't know why it didn't work for you.
But good to know you got it fixed :)

actually. it turns out to be a couple of options. testing them all out now one-by-one. (imma at least turn rumble off) it may or may not be ocarina.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

so its not return to or ocarina or custom server? ... vWii hates me ;~;

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

i cant even turn rumble off without making it not work :::::::~~~~~~~~~~~~:::::::::::::

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

okay sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. my wiiu is just fucking with me and i have absolutely no explanation.

Launching an official channel can be problematic because USBLoaderGX always reload to cIOS before launching a channel, and always reload to 58 before launching a homebrew (nintendont, etc.)

Since I forced the reloading to 58, I had report that some homebrew stopped working (specially, WiiMC)
and the fact it always reload to cIOS when launching a channel can be problematic with official channels as they expect a specific IOS to be loaded. USBLoaderGX is missing the option to use the expected IOS.
I tried to code it, but failed. I'm not as good as people think I am. it may require more work to launch the channels correctly.

On Wii, Launching the channels with cIOS 249 is working fine, but maybe on vWii it's problematic?

The "return to" option is not related to that issue. it should work fine as long as you have the proper forwarder.
There are two forwarder, one badly named "v5.1" (it's in fact v2.0), and a real v5.1
be sure you are using the "v5.1 fix"

block IOS reload will do nothing.

it's a feature of d2x to prevent losing d2x if the game you are playing reloads a new dol (for example games with multiple subgames like metroid prime trilogy, or sam & max multi-chapters, etc.)
But you can try. it's always a good idea to test and see if it's something we didn't thought about.

I don't remember if I tried launching official channels from that loader. nobody else tested it?
