I've just updated to the latest hourly build of luma and it seems to corrupt the n3dsxl somehow. The splash screen now shows white lines and payloads nor chainloader do not work anymore is there any reason for this? if you go back to the stable build its ok but that's quite old now.

Where did you get the hourly build from? Luma Updater does not have the latest hourly as the website hasn't been updated since Sunday. The latest commit works fine on my console, if you want to try it see attachment.

Luma updater version 2.1.1 has the lastest hourly build on it v37ba2c1 also I tested the build from here as well>https://astronautlevel2.github.io/Luma3DS/ and they both did the same it gives white and black lines on boot up instead of a splash screen and none of the payloads work either.

Edit: yours is still an old version its still on 8.0.

Mine is the latest commit, check the signature at the end vs Luma commit page. And re-read my post where I said that the nightly build website does not have the actual latest hourly.

Luma updater would still say 8.1 and the latest version number, if yours was the latest build from luma3ds master folder yours still says "8.0"

Yes sorry it does seem to be the latest commit I just downloaded the full zip from here>https://github.com/astronautlevel2/Luma3DS put the "latest" boot.firm file in my sd card and it works ok and yes it yours thanks above. I'm just confused as to why it still says version "8.0" and not 8.1 in luma updater?

It prints the wrong version as I didn't have it tagged correctly on my build machine. I have reuploaded the build with the correct tag - if you can ignore the wrongly reported version you don't have to redownload :)

I updated as well and got the same thing but downloaded the boot.firm for this thread and now my 3DS works again. This is like the 2nd time this has happened when iv'e tried to update through Luma why does this always happen?

What should I update to because when I tried updating to the latest hourly it made it so when I turned my 3DS on I just got a black screen ontop and white on the bottom. Is the hourly build still causing crashes?

I had the same problem as you, the bottom screen was white and the top screen was black. Just download this link:
https://gbatemp.net/attachments/luma3ds_8-1-3d8f62d-zip.92593/

put the boot.firm on your sd card and overwrite the old boot.firm file you should be ok then, just reboot.

Does this just go to the root of the SD card?

Also kinda off topic but godmode9 tells me an exception occurred. Anyone know why? I wanna dump my NAND.

yes put your micro sd card in your card reader then bring up your files and just put the file out of that zip onto the route of your sd card and it should overwrite your old one, its ok let it do it then reboot your 3ds. if you want you can just delete your old boot.firm file and put your new one on but overwriting it is the easiest option. I presume your already on B9S v1.2?

I'm not sure what version i'm on but the replacement worked now I just want to know why godmode9 is giving me an exception error.

Download the "latest build" of Godmode9 from here> https://d0k3.secretalgorithm.com/ and put the GodMode9.firm file out the zip in your luma/payloads... folder should be ok then. Do the same if your using any other apps from this page.

It says to "select scrips from more" but I don't see that? am I suppose to move the scripts/support folder from the latest GM9 build to somewhere?

Click on this link> http://d0k3.secretalgorithm.com/GodMode9/latest.zip and then open the zip file and put the "GodMode9.firm" file into your luma/payloads.. folder on your sd card you should have a folder called "luma". You can also rename your payloads for example DOWN_GodMode9.firm and then you can hold down "DOWN" and it will start with that input instead of using start.

Edit: I'm not sure what your trying to do now? have you got godmode9 working and your trying to install B9S? sorry I'm not sure.

I figured it out. I can just put the scripts folder from the godemode9 package that I downloaded. Looks like you can just put it anywhere so yeah I was able to backup my nand.
