Top screen on the unit is completely fried (as in ribbon cable is torn in half), but the speakers somehow still work. I decided to remove the top half entirely, and as expected, it no longer boots. Any way to make it boot without a top screen? My soldering skills are pretty decent, so if it requires soldering, I'm up to the task.

As for why I want to do this, it just seems like a fun little project, and it's not like I'm gonna use the console for anything since I have a new 3DS.

I don't think that would work. The speakers actually need to be connected.
However I seem to remember reading that you can get it to work without a top screen by bridging 2 contacts.
I'm wondering what those 2 specific contacts are. I assume they're on the left terminal as running a screwdriver through them while powering up crashes the device.
