Recently, some "hackers" (SciresM, ShinyQuagsire, ylws8, etc.) are sharing information and posting Tweets with numbers and names that not everyone can undestand so im posting this to find if someone can explain us (non programmers) what is happening exactly.

Thank you all.

Based on what I can see, there's no homebrew progress.

There are 2 things going on.

1. Someone managed to communicate with the update server to get info from the server on the various modules and versions
2. Some people have managed to dump resources from games and the system as well as decipher their formats and edit save games.

So, nothing homebrew related to see here. Move along.

There's hope for a Xenosaga port.

But we are floating in space

Wouldn't that mean they have been able to decrypt game data and save data, as well as reencrypt save data and sign it or by pass signature check for save data?
That seems like a hell of a gigantic step to me, just saying.

From what I saw yellows8 tried to load one with random data in BOTW, but it didn't work (although it set the rupee count to 0)

Sadly no. They were able to extract in-game assets such as 3D models, but this is not the same as extracting save data.
This information is outdated. My apologies.

just numbers and names and nothing else :creep:
Incorrect.

Also wrong. Modifying save data means mounting the save file's filesystem in write mode. This is a much bigger idea than people think. If Yellows8 has FS read/write, there's more going on.

There is a slight catch. What firm is he on. For all we know he could still be on 2.3. And a handful of users have moved to 3.0. where it could of been patched.

3.0 hasn't patched anything except for an old exploit they were never planning to use. So all is well.

It has only been 4 months since the console released and save editing is already possible. You know Nintendo has fucked up if it only took 4 months. lol

Seriously. If something like freeshop is possible on the Switch rip Nintendo. Really hope they didn't do something as dumb as the ticket system but seeing how much progress there has been so far I doubt they changed it.

According to Switchbrew, the console sends reports back to Nintendo about which applications are being launched. This is similar to the detection technique used in the recent 3DS mass-ban of homebrew users. If homebrew were to be released for the Switch, it looks like they'll need to mask the application ID of homebrew apps in order to avoid another ban wave. Either that, or find a way to block this service entirely.
