When I boot up my DS sometimes the buttons are unresponsive and the touch pad takes a lot of pressure to use. It seams to always be trying to scroll to the right. Its very annoying. I tried to recalibrate the circle pad and the touch screen but no luck. Should I try restoring my nand backup? I think something went wrong when I updated to luma 8.0.

That happened to me only once and all I had to do is reboot... do you have any other modules installed and running like ctr-cfw?

It's an old touch screen, I don't pressure has anything to do with it, but you might be running into an uncommon issue. What cfw do you use and what is your firmware? What modifications have you made?

Luma 8.1 (though I first encountered the problem on 8.0) My firmware is 11.4. I have never done any hardmods. I could restore my old nand but I dunno if that would help.

Seems very odd. It very well could be a hardware malfunction.

Dirt stuck under the frame of the bottom touch pad. 99.99%. Every time I pressed the HOME button, it pressed something in the bottom left corner of the touch pad, that's where the dirt was.

I had the same issue once with dirt under the touchpad frame, so that's my guess as well. I used a card or something to clean it.
