I've had my wii for a while now and it right now is running backups from an external HD.

I'm just wondering if I get a Wii U and do the vWii hack if I can bring across all my games/emulators from the Wii and then on the same external drive also put Wii U backups?

I suppose what I want to be able to do is get rid off the Wii and just have one device that can do Wii/WiiU/Old Emulators.

Also another question, how does the vWii work in regards to the SD card? Because right now all my Rock Band DLC and ROMs are on an SD Card. Can i now just store these on the external drive?

Thanks.

u can with mocha, but it's a pita. dlc that's stored on the sd card needs to stay on the sd card afaik. the files for the smash stack, which I used for the virtual wii, had to be on the sd card, so I assume that's where they're stored on the wii regardless.

Thanks so I'm assuming using one large SD card should be fine then for both Wii/WiiU.

So as far as the external hard drive would you suggest keeping two separate hard drives? One for the Wii U games, and another for Wii and just switching between them?

u don't necessarily need a really large sd card, maybe a medium sized?

the games will be on the same partition. the way u install games on the wii u is installing them to a wii u formatted drive, then copying them to the fat32 drive which is a pita. u'll want to ustealth the drive, so that the normal wii u system menu doesn't see it. mocha will as will several backup loaders on the virtual wii.

@Veho, Sounds and smells like bullshit. They don't give you cancer, and California should know that. I don't get why they stick labels that say "may or may not cause reproductive harm or cancer".
