I just recieved an ak2i this morning, bought from the gbatemp's sponsor site. but it's acting... weird.
I tried to use it on a dsi, but it refuse to detect the cart. the dsi it's on 1.4.5, though (but plays fine GW blue cart). then i tried it on my ds lites. the cart still not detected. I tought that it was a hw issue on the cart, but on a 3ds it's detected wothout any problem, and that confuses me (n3ds a9lh+luma 11.4). anyway, if i try to boot it the screen flashes and says "system file missing" (it haves the 1.9.0 version, taked from the wikitemp link).
Am i doing anything wrong?
if relevant, it have a hwid:81, D9 detect it fine.
and one more time, excuse me for the worst english in the world xd

I recently purchased a ak2i too, and is also acting strange. I backuped the card with d9 and thank god, because the firmware upgrade in the ak2i page bricked the bootcode. I had to recover with the backup. After this, I am barely able to use it on my n3ds b9s+luma8.0 11.4 since I have to put it in several times for it to work but my 2ds or my o3ds in 11.2 won't read the card whatsoever.
It's really strange.

I had to put some files into the SD to pass that message, OP. (Mainly the ak2i menu files)

Yeah sure, if you downloaded an AKAIO kernel, place the "__aio" folder and the "akmenu4.nds" on the root of your SD and you're good to go.
that is exactly what i did
And to me, it doesn't look like contact isues, cause the 4 devices tested have no problems reading games, but it's only detected by the 3ds

I simply put paper behind the chip and that fixed it for me.
While the compatibility with newer DSis is worse, downgrading the kernel to 1.4 is also a good way to increase speed at least for me it was.

The paper / card trick has always worked well for my acekards.

yeah, i used the paper trick on many flashcards, but the thing of only being detected by 3ds confused me. I'll try it anyway and report, thanks

ok, both issues resolved. the cause of the ds/dsi incompatibility was caused by the thing of the paper trick (so the 3ds have better cart pins ), and the "system file is missing" issue by me being stupid and not realizing of the sd being formated on exfat. thanks to all, the thread can be closed (I'm not sure of if i can do that or must be a mod lol)

This is weird. The card I got from nds-card works perfectly fine on my N3DS. I'm running the latest firmware with a Luma nightly and the latest version of B9S. I just threw AKAIO on it and it hasn't had any problems at all.

I am getting consistent problems with contacts. Either the card works perfectly fine or boots to a "An error has ocurred" blackscreen or it's not detected at all.

Funny thing is if I put a 3ds cart first, the ak2i is always detected. It doesn't mean it will boot afterwards but meh.
