Saw that a few days ago in my youtube recommendations, it was pretty neat however I wish he would have used the same color of plastic as the JoyCon and then somehow covered up the hole in a way that looks seamless, that would make it look almost like it was designed that way. Or alternatively just 3D printed a whole new shell for the JoyCon, that would look even better.

That's honestly what I expected him to do, as it was the far easier of the options.

Im still waiting on someone to 3d scan the shells so i can print my own colors.
Plans are already up with a simple google search. came across the by accident a few days ago. Wish I had a 3d printer, wold love to make my own Joycon shell colors. hell, redesign them abit to fit nicer into the hands. More "grip" like.

Since he was basically just making a prototype, it's possible he wasn't concerned about the color.

I saw it, but it looks pretty bad imo

It could be better, but I'm sure it's much more comfortable. In theory, they could have avoided the whole thing by just using the Pro Controller, which is WELL worth the $70 price tag, IMO.

Good luck to any player 2 trying to use that as a standalone controller on its side

Since the Left JoyCon was Gray, the Right one may have been a spare, or one they didn't mind breaking. Besides, it's not like you would have to use that one for Player 2. Another JoyCon could be synced-up.

I understand that, I'm just saying they've taken away some major functionality for a moderate comfort adjustment. Doesn't seem worth it in my opinion.

For people that mostly play single player and don't have much intentions for multiplayer, Ben's mod to the controller is reasonable for a prototype. Outside of that, for people that do a lot of 2p stuff on a single console its not as much of a viable solution unless you have multiple sets of controllers.

That's why it's a "mod". One person may not see the "worth" in a chair with wheels, but to someone else it dramatically improves their situation. Thank you for your input, though.

I can't really say I see what about this mod is more ergonomic or comfortable than moving the right joystick down to be parallel with the left one, and moving the home button elsewhere...

Where the stick was could now be used as a button for rcm.......hmmmmm

That's already been done. A couple of people have made a toggle switch on the side of their Joycon. The only reason I haven't done this myself can be found at 12:11. Not worth the effort without very fine tipped equipment IMO; although, it is the best method for RCM
