Hi all. Is there any way to determine the unique key associated with a wifi dongle?

Lost my unique key but want to use the wifi dongle again.

TIA

I've done some searching and it appears the key is generated from a hash of the dongle's MAC Address.

Anyone know what the algorithm used is?

I assume it would be something built-into the embedded Linux on the xk3y.

I tried common hashing algorithm's based on my other Xbox 360 which I have the unique key for but can't match up a mac address/hash.

Good luck reversing everything or try and sniff the key with aircrack.
Don't think a sniffer would do any good. The xk3y is likely just reading the MAC Address and then running through whatever hash algorithm they used to compare it with what is in the ini file. Nothing should be transmitted over anywhere, it should be an in memory operation.

My hope was they were using some relatively simple hash algorithm but I've run through all the ones I can find that were popular 5-6 years ago and can't get the hash of the MAC Address to match the unique key on the one dongle that I have that I have the key for.

Will likely have to load the xk3y image onto a Linux system and try and trace/debug what it is doing.

Unfortunately that is behind a bunch of other projects and I'm not likely to get to it for a while.
