Hacking I want to Hack my old 3DS XL. Any advice where to start?

Ok, i have gateway 3DS but i want more from my 3DS, so i decided to hack it.

Is there some noob guide so i dont screw up a thing?

Also what is best hacking method and what are pros and cons, and can i play online? (i have SSB 3DS on my mind)

If you are on firmware 11.3 or bellow, follow this guide: https://3ds.guide/
Just follow it to the letter and you will be fine. There are no cons.

Im really confused reading all this. Can i please get some simple flash explanation so i grasp whats going on? i know nothing about 3DS HB scene....

So what you will be doing installing something called (B9S) Boot9strap. It will give you full control over your system. In addition, we will be installing custom firmware that can utilize B9S capabilities.

The guide can explain it better than anyone on this site can, just read everything carefully and try to get a grasp on the lingo.

Well in the end, you will be able to install 3ds games as well as homebrew made by the talented users of this site. You will also have access to past Nintendo titles from the NES, SNES, GB/GBC, GBA. If you have a flash card, you can also play DS games. You can install custom themes or make you own.

DO NOT USE GATEWAY. A lot of people here will defend it and that is fine. However, 3DS CFW will do everything a gateway can do. Its also much safer than gateway

wow, i thought GW3DS is safer, that's why i stayed with this instead of hack

One question about SNES games...will they work on my old XL.. i dont have new one :/

Yes and No. You see, Nintendo never put SNES virtual console games on the o3sd because it never met their "Standards." This didn't stop people and talented people got a snes emulator runnning at 59.9 FPS on the o3ds. Its not virtual console but it works just as well.

i dont really care about VC as long as it can run the game near perfectly 99% of the time...

You came on board at a good time. B9S installation is cake compared to when a9lh first came out, or when downgrading to 9.2 was needed and dangerous. Now all the homebrew needed to install b9s and Luma have safety checks and are noob friendly, especially paired with 3ds.guide
