I don't know if this is normal, but I had installed some official themes using 3ds titlekeys, when I updated my firmware I went to the eshop to check for any new demos. I went to the home menu and my themes disappeared. I restored my sysnand backup just to be safe. What I'm wondering is; has this happened to anyone before?

It's opening eShop that does it. There's no reason not to update to 11.4.
Oh, I see. I'll update it then, but I'm going to make a backup of my sysNAND just to be safe. I always have one just in case I get bricked or something like that.

There's an easy solution. If you run tikshop before you open the eShop once, all the tickets for the dlc and themes will be installed, completely getting rid of the issue. Also, themely can backup your installed themes, so you can use one application for all pirated, legitimate, and custom themes.

This is because no one bothered to make a patch for this yet.

you installed the tickets as well as the cias
You can't install CIAs without installing the tickets.

No, that won't make a difference. What matters is whether they have visited the DLC shop before. Once you visit the DLC shop for a game, or the theme shop, the servers store some data about your owned DLC, and then every time you visit the DLC shop or eShop from then on it checks the data on the server and compares it with your installed DLC and deletes anything that doesn't match. Just visiting eShop won't delete your DLC, as long as you've never visited the DLC shops in the respective games. That's why it doesn't happen for everyone.
