Gaming First detail about The new Pokemon game for the switch

so apparently the new Pokemon will be more of a traditional Pokemon game not like
Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness, and the like.

According to a Bloomberg tech reporter, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aimé has confirmed that the Switch game will, indeed, be a main Pokémon game, setting it apart from past console Pokémon titles like Pokémon Colosseum or Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness.

“[The Pokémon Switch game will be] a traditional find, battle, train type experience,” Fils-Aimé told the reporter.

Exactly what I wanted 15-20 years ago. I'm not a huge Pokemon fan anymore, but better late than never right?

they did said in the E3 presentation a "new core game"
they did really implied it was the next series after "ultra sun and mega moon ultra deluxe and knucles games"

All my opinion, you're entitled to your own but my personal gripes were: The game is story-based but paced very poorly. Cipher infiltration segments are obnoxious - it just comes down to walk down corridor > Cipher members down > Take a few steps > Cipher member jumps down > repeat a few times > Try to go up/down elevator > Cipher member comes out. GoD at least has more grunts in their bases than any other game in the series and the bases aren't even slightly interesting.

Then there's the simple things, no proper wild encounters, generally pretty bad selection of Pokemon unless you bring your own, games reuse Stadium 1/2 models which while understandable looks pretty awful when you have N64 models with Gamecube-tier textures. There's a tiny amount of towns/areas and many of those areas are tiny as well with only places like Agate and the port being pretty big places.

Forced double battles were also kind of annoying. Especially mixed with the high number of grunts. Due to having to watch 3-4 Pokemon attack in a turn made the battles feel longer. There's probably more but it's been awhile since I last played them

Good, we all have opinions, here are mine:
When I first played Gale of Darkness, I thought the idea of a Pokémon game that didn't have wild encounters and instead used Poké Spots and Shadow Pokémon (I hadn't played Colosseum and still haven't) was amazing.
I'm fine with the game reusing Stadium 1 & 2 models, given that they looked amazing to me.
If a game is story-based, I'm fine. I don't mind the pacing.
I personally like Double Battles. They didn't feel "forced", but rather it was the battle format the game came with, since it wouldn't feel the same if it hadn't.

Man I love Collo/XD and the Orre region. Which is why I'm making a Gen 2 romhack that takes place in Orre. Cause we will never go there again otherwise. Lol

All the same, I'm pretty stoked for a Switch Pokemon game.

Injust hope they change it up a bit and make it more like the jrpg games.
The normal pokemon format has gotten so old.
I want some fast pace battle. More of an active battle.
Needs more story also. Its always the same crap.

But we will see what happens. Ive been asking for these and few more upgrades for years, but all we get is a small graphic upgrade and new pokemon.


I truly do hope its something good that comes tho.

A 3DS Pokémon game remastered for the Switch would make me very satisfied, I don't mind pixelated graphics if done right.

what i mean is not a full top down view more akin to diagonal view like pokemon xd and colossuem and atleast make characters look well human with hands and such that work lol.

I hope that it's a top down view Pokémon RPG game. It's what I've been wanting on a Nintendo home console.
