This is just getting out of control for us. Are you serious... $100 CAN for a first-party Switch game. Below is a screenshot of the price from EBGames (the equivalent of the US counterpart, GameStop). This $100 price appears to be consistent at Best Buy Canada's site and well as for other unreleased Switch games like Metroid Prime 4, Kirby, and Yoshi.

Ridiculous.

Edit: I phoned and confirmed that the $100 is actually the placeholder price. While there is no notice of when it is subject to change, I imagine it will be priced back to $80 CAD.

US be the US, they always get things cheaper, but it is because the list price doesn't include taxes.
In Canada, as well as in Europe, the list price includes already the GST/VAT taxes.

Not true for Canada (or at least some parts). Unless they changed it in the last three years, I'm looking at my receipt for Mario Kart 8 that I purchased at launch in 2014 and I did have to pay additional GST and PST on the game.

If you have to additionally pay GST/PST, then you have been quite fucked.
The European price, though expensive, already includes it.

The UK retail price is £59.99 but it should decrease a bit as we get nearer to its launch.

Something is fishy, almost all Switch E3 pre-order price tags are 99.99$ Canadian on different web sites such as EBGames, Toysrus, BestBuy.

If they go that way, I'll go the other way around and wait for 'piracy'.

Sorry but 99.99$ is not an acceptable price tag.

In my lifetime, I paid this price for only 3 titles but they worth it.

- Secret of Mana 99.99$ Canadian
- Final Fantasy 3 (VI) 99.99$ Canadian
- Lunar the Silver Star Story Sega CD 129.99$ Canadian

If every crappy games become this price, i'm out.

No idea. I'm only reporting on what I see posted on the Canadian sites. I will say, however, that for unreleased games in the past, the price listed was the price you paid for at launch (for these Canadian sites). For example, BOTW was $79.99 CAN for pre-order and is still the case today.

It is presently $50 CAD on Walmart.ca for pre-order. Add a few cents to get the free shipping. (I added a $1 pack of BIC pens)

https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/super-mario-odyssey-nintendo-switch/6000197179273
Link says price is hidden.

Anyways guys, I phoned EB Games about this, and one of the staff members did reveal to me that they were told $99.99 CAN is indeed the placeholder price. If the price changes down the road, people who pre-order will receive / pay the difference.

I will make a note of it in my original post.

Yeah, interesting. I imagine Ontario prices are different, but I'm pretty certain that is an error on Walmart's part. No way it can be that cheap for any province.
Completely possible but there are other deals that lend credit to this being real. Walmart has cut $30 off of a pile of game pre-orders for E3 with Amazon also doing the same with many of them. I've pre-ordered 3 new games at $50 CAD between Amazon and Walmart. Right now Wal-Mart also have ARMS and Splatoon 2 at $50 but are sold out online. Worst case scenario, they catch it and cancel orders so no risk in trying if its something you genuinely want.
