Hi all, I am new to Vita hacking (just got one this week). I read somewhere that if the system goes to sleep you will have issues saving? Is this still the case or has it been resolved?

Ah ok, has it been resolved? Or still can happen on latest stuff?
It didnt needed any "resolve" it was a human>dumper>machine problem
And not this shouldnt happen if you use newest dumps.
If you want to be always sure:Before entering sleep mode push psbutton

Ignore everything he said.
Yes, it is still an issue. Pressing the PS button before sleep will not work
I know this because I'm playing the Maidump version of Trails of Cold Steel from the torrent and lost about 3 hours of progress because I forgot about the save bug after not playing my vita for a while.
What you need to do is always save before you put your vita to sleep and google a "fix" that works for some people that involves changing to a 12 hour clock and deleting a certain file in your uxo folder.

I'm on the latest henkaku and this still happens to me. Playing an Uncharted Vitamin 2 dump. I too thought pressing the PS button would help but it doesn't

Personally finished uncharted playing whole week without turning off vita.
Always using maidump
Im still saying that is a bad dump problem (or only for some sys/vitas)

Or i am just the lucky guy for which everything works fine

After losing all my saves TWICE, I stopped taking the Vita seriously. The first time my Vita memory card got screwed up somehow when it was powered off nearly a year (inside its protective hard case).

Second time was after I tried dumping a couple games with Vitamin. And this is VERY IMPORTANT, I >>NEVER<< put my Vita to sleep. Not trying to blame Vitamin, could be pure coincidence but it definitely had nothing to do with Vita sleep mode.

On the note of saves. If you install a game, make sure you use a homebrew save dumper to backup your save before you delete it. Sony really wanted to push PS Plus and cloud saves so they made it so you deleting a game deletes your save

You might want to remove that certain sure as it houses ROMs.

There isn't a fix for it until a better dumping tool is released or the current ones are updated. Just save your games at every possible time and you should be fine.

Already mentioned earlier, Apparently does not work for every one

who doesn't it work for?

they probably aren''t doing it properly.

I'm not sure if you actually need to do anything to the clock though, since i'm always using a 12 hour one i didn't have to change it.

The vita "world" is still not fully explored -- if is not working for somene dont mean that hes doing something bad

The problem is ongoing.
I even get this problem with FFX (cardridge). If i loaded a savestate with henkaku on, and go in to sleepmode for severall hours, after i turn on the vita, and try to load my (cardridge-)saves, theyre all corupt.

well i only see one person saying it doesn't work on some vitas "apparently" with nothing to back that up.

it worked perfectly for anyone i told to use the list.dat fix, who did it properly.

both of which work well in potplayer

amd is a bit cheaper though
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Cheaper and they are less stingy with the RAM not a big issue now but I can imagine in a yard or two things might be different
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Year not yard lol
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the vram is one advantage when it comes to AI but ends up being slower even with that and really AI is the only use case that needs more than 12gb vram right now

    Interesting lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think I watched a video where two games at 4K where eating just over 16GB of RAM and it's the one case where the 7900XT and XTX pulled ahead (minus RTX of course)
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb
    +1
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding
    +1

When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow
