If you want to use R4 Wood Kernel, you need to go with R4i GOLD 3DS RTS , @Crystal the Glaceon recommend it.
But, if you don't want Wood Kernel Features, you can go for a $4 cheaper R4i-SDHC 3DS RTS, which reccomend by @gnmmarechal.
Both of them support real time save and cheats (Not real time cheating like DSTWO).

This is what R4 Wood Kernel offer:
Wood R4 is a modified version of the Acekard Kernel to run on R4, M3 Simply, and R4i Gold (r4ids.cn.) It's basically praised for introducing all of the Acekard features so it basically had almost all the same features as akAIO. The only feature it didn't have was individual loader updates. Otherwise it had basically everything else.
I always suggest it because it's extremely light on the battery, the ROM performance is perfect, the RTS is stable and simple, it's easy and highly customizable, homebrew soft-reset, and so many other features. I personally think it's the best kernel next to akAIO and it's also why I always suggest the R4i Gold over other carts.

I'll always suggest wood kernel carts, specifically the one @Crystal the Glaceon recommends. I personally have tested the two card recommended and would say the extra $4 is worth it for the R4i Gold 3DS RTS. IMO it just overall has a nicer interface to work with.

Just give another choice, since in theory, not in performance. Both of them can do what flashcard nowaday should be able to do, without the problem.

I'm still using my old DSTT since I don't play DS games that much anymore except the one that I already have legit cartridge.

An interesting note, I am not Crystal the Glaceon anymore.
But I still stand by my previous recommendation. The cart is rock solid, cheap, and Wood R4 is amazing.

Just yesterday I received my R4i Gold Pro for 3ds, it is all working fine with 11.4 Luma3ds. I still haven't updated to 11.5.
