The Nintendo Switch keeps on getting pushed aside so for anyone keeping the Switch as their main gaming system (like myself) will be missing out on tons of games released and to be released. Just for example, that new Dragon Ball 2D fighting game won't be coming to the Switch and nor did Tekken 7, or other third party games.

The Switch keeps the route that the WiiU was on, pretty much... imo.

While, yes, we're not seeing a lot of these AAA multiplatform titles? It's definitely not going the route of the WiiU... The WiiU had a fair bit of multi platform games in the beginning.. But little third party exclusive support. We will see in the next couple of years.. But no, it's definitely not on the route the WiiU was at this point in its life.

The Fifa seems to be ok. The storymode is missing and no frostbite engine, but there is FUT, Season and Online-Play. The screenshots also look like a console-fifa.

It sure feels that way. I have a Gaming PC and have a switch as a secondary console. There aren't that many kid friendly games to justify getting rid of my son 3ds. In fact, there aren't that many games at all for the Switch. It's a shame because there is so much potential in the switch I just wish nintendo would release more games like mario party or smash bros to keep us entertain. It has a slow release of titles this year. maybe it will get better next year.

People play FIFA for the story mode? Back in the days I used to play FIFA like crazy but never touched the story mode bit.

I wanted to say that nearly nobody cares about the story mode. The people play FUT, online matches, local multiplayer or a single player season with their favourite club.

Switch is selling really fast, but I think that it is doomed to be a secondary console its whole life. It's just not powerful enough to run some of the more demanding titles. However, I think once the Switch install base is larger, companies will spend more effort trying to port games to it. But I'm going to buy a Switch with the full intention of using it as a secondary console. I normally game on my powerful PC rig, so I've not at all been interested in owning a console this generation except a PS4 just for its exclusives. However, I am very enticed by the Switch because it does something a PC just can't do: turn into a full portable whenever you need to head out. That's enticing to me. It would be even better if Switch did get all the third-party support the other consoles get, but I just don't see that as happening, at least not anytime soon. So yes, I would say treat Switch as a secondary system.

It looks like that, its horrible how EVERY SINGLE good game from thirds is skipping the Nintendo Switch, so for me its going to be the same Wii U story all over again, but worst because this time its not full of exclusive games, its full of Wii U ports (re-fried games).

I hope after this WEAK console they learn their lesson and give us a powerfull console, on pair with PS and Xbox.

Yeah, that sorta sucks. It was understandable for Mario Kart 8 but if they plan on doing for every game it'll just feel like a waste of potential and time that Nintendo could be using to release actual new games for the damn thing.

That's what fans have been hoping for before the specs of the Switch had been announced. Let's just admit it, Nintendo won't make a powerful console compared to PS/Xbox. That Nintendo is in the past.

Or it could be a Wii story. Wii was horrendously underpowered compared to the Xbox 360/PS3, but it still got a good, strong library of games and was tremendously successful. I'm thinking the Switch is going to land somewhere between the Wii and the Wii U in terms of its success. But truth be told, they're chasing the casual market. I don't think they want to create an "on-par" system unless they can stand out from the herd in some way while doing it.

I have it as a first console, but I also have an XB1 to play Microsoft exclusives (...rolling desert bush here...) and ports. /s

I don't know, a Switch is a Switch, who cares if "first" or a "second", x or y, but it is quite orthogonal to the XB1/PS4, so both together form a good vector basis to generate a plentiful space for different games.

That said, the Switch still today has too few games and mostly promises. It is a too recent platform, let's speak in a year to see how things developed, I am no clairvoyant and can't really tell about the future.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Actually, taking a look at the time I've clocked into games on my Switch, I can see I've played both Disgaea 5 and BotW a lot.
So I should reply NO the question above, as Disgaea 5 is by no means a Switch exclusive.
That said, still too few games.

I like your optimism but games announced for 2018 are mostly or all not coming to the Switch so not good news at all for the system. I'd have loved to play that Dragon Ball 2018 game on the Switch. Sigh.

You're right... don't say "its too early too say" because Wii U had a lot of third party support OUOT OF THE BOX xD

And for you, well Wii had a huge library? yes it did, 80% of it was shovelware, 15% exclusives 2% Quality third parties... 3% crappy horrible ports. 0% AAA third party games.

Well, it had COD4... kind of... diluted in a lot of water, but still... wasn't that a AAA third party game? So no 0%?

It depends on what your into. I only had Wii U this round. I know there are some good ones I missed (GT, GTA), but I had a lot of fun with my Wii U, and I never looked back. Ill just get a good PC or used PS4 later if I ever want to play those other games bad enough.

Well first would have to define a second-class console. If you mean it doesn't have your favorite games on it, for me it's already a first-class console if they never made another game after this year. However I am seeing too many companies that were not interested in publishing for the Wii U that are interested in the switch, for it to slowly slide Into obscurity. And even though I personally didn't own one from everything that I've heard from people that did own a Wii U one thing I didn't hear [ very much of] was dissatisfaction with the games they did buy.

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though

@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.

Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha

@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
