Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you could recommend the optimal hard drives to use with a Wii U. Obviously, a regular one won't work due to the Wii U being too underpowered to keep it spinning, so I'm wondering which ones have a decent capacity that are worth the price.

2 TB won't go to waste, but will be a bit overkill... I use a 500 GB, and barely use 300 GB of installed titles that I might play one day...

Hey
I'm in the same issue, plug a portable hard drive and it wouldn't work with the wiiu as it wasn't being recognised

So I bought a powered external drive, but after a days use, it would return an error
How do I resolve this problem

Are you using a Y cable? I bought one off of Amazon and it works perfectly.

It depends on what kind of games you want to play. I know that games like Zelda are approximately somewhere around 4 to 15 gb. Want some MMOs ? Add a few 15 to 30gb. So the best is to take a External hard Drive, USB 3.0 with powered USB Hub with a capacity of 500gb to 1tb.
