I tried inserting some .jpg images into my micro sd card and they show up as ? "The data could not be desplayed" in the switch image gallery is there any format you could set it to so the images might actually show up on the switch? file size? DPI? ect.

Maybe look at the a attributes of a SS and match it?

This is actually an interesting concept. If you could send me a screenshot as well a JPG image, I would take a look at it.

I'd do it myself but my lazy ass still hasn't bought a dedicated Switch SD Card

Yea someone has try thos before without any luck.
They rename the file to the screenshot name and it didnt show up.

Nintendo isnt taking any chances and they are patching everything.
So i doubt they will make that open. Its probably a byte match, kinda like a md5.
File name and size must match something already in the system.

Assuming Nintendo uses libjpeg and not not some half baked in house solution it's practically bulletproof even without the hash check, exploits in image handling libraries are extremely rare these days considering they have been around for 2 decades or more

The first "game-only" console since the GameCube and the first "game-only" handheld since the original DS
Thats how it should be.
If i want internet ill use my phone or laptop.
If i wanr netflix ill use my tv or laptop.

I dont need my microwave having netflix, web broswer and an mp3 player.
It needs to warm/cook food thats it.

Feel that way about the switch.
But thats me. I only use my gaming systems to game

if you rename the screenshot ( only the time part ), you should also change the image's Exif information to the same time. And the screenshot should put in the right folder ( also name by time )

I've been looking at this and yes, it is definitely the meta data. If you take a look at the metadata before you edit the screenshot and after it will make a world of difference. I've managed to get a thumbnail working in the album (which is in metadata), but not an actual image.

Sorry for double post but I just learned it is more than metadata. Even cloning the metadata doesn't do anything, but whatever.

I must admit that I didn't read all the messages, but it could be something as simple as save settings. for example, if u have the wrong save settings for say the icon on the wii u, u'll get a question mark tile and the game won't load. sorry if this has already been posted. :P

Didn't look at this, but probably the switch puts a digital signature for the whole file inside metadata and won't open something not signed and created by itself (in that case you would need its private key to sign jpegs).
Try swapping one bit in a screenshot file and check if it still opens.
If not, it is probably hashing and digitally signing the files.
