Using a Japanese N3DS, I just updated to the latest B9S Version 1.2 and Luma 8.0 successfully and everything seems to function normally, except some out of region CIA installed games like "Zelda Majora's Mask" and "Rhythm Heaven Megamix.

When booting Majora's mask, I get this screen with debug text:

And Rhythm Heaven Megamix just black screens. These titles worked perfectly on the previous B9S 1.0 and Luma cfw.

Luma settings are:

X Enable game patching
X Show Nand.....
X Show GBA Boot Screen.....

How do I fix this please?

Btw, it's a typo in the "heading" B9S 1.2 not 2.0

EDIT: Both issues are now resolved using latest Luma commit until 8.1+ stable is released, see PAGE 2

I have a similar crash with Bye-Bye Box Boy which is the same region as my 3DS, I haven't tried every game but so far that's the only one that crashes for me.

where are you seeing boot9strap 2.0?

It's a typo.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Just an off-topic note. If you're playing GBA games, you should disable the GBA boot screen. It is known to make some games not boot.

Makes no difference, still crashes with or without.

Have you tried without the "game patching" feature?

Yeah, but same crashes. My guess that it's something to do with Luma/Locales folder or something again.

I remember the paths got changed in the code with 7.00 I think it was, so I reckon it's the same again with 8.0

Just found this:

Yeah, i think so.
From the readme:
Better language emulation:
  • You can now specify a country (2 letter code) and a state ID (2-digit hex integer), for example: EUR FR FR 01

Before, it was only "EUR FR", and now, it's "EUR FR FR 01".

edit: i have just launched Rhythm Heaven Megamix on my console, without any issues...

OK, you need to use the language emulation. So, have you tried to change the text of the corresponding locale.txt to "JPN JP JP 01" or something like that?

I just seen that and it's a bit vague with no proper example. For Zelda, it's currently set to "EUR EN" which is how it worked previously. Do I change it to EUR 01 or EUR EN 01?

The wiki has not been updated yet (TuxSH edited this page 4 days ago · 48 revisions)

Says COUNTRY and state.

I'm nowhere to test right now but I'd try (for US game on EUR system)

USA EN US 01 (if not then perhaps NA 01? For North America)

Or for a Japanese game

JPN JP JP 01
You might be onto something there.
Can someone try EUR EN UK 01 to play in English? I can't test right now I'm at work pretending to work... :D
If this work the example in the release note was terrible :D

I tried EUR EN, EUR EN EN 01, EUR EN UK 01 and EUR EN UK in the locale.txt. The games does start in English but when I try to access DLCs it says it can't find the SD Card.
If I remove locale.txt, the game stats in my console language and the DLCs work normally.

Just updated to the latest Luma commit and Zelda's Majora's mask now boots on my JP console using EUR EN EN 01 in the locales.txt. Not tried any others but this is a start, so hopefully this and other bugs will be addressed in 8.1 and above.

Edit: US Rhythm Heaven Megamix Title ID 000400000018A400 still does not work.

Tried USA EN EN 01 - JPN EN EN 01, EUR EN EN 01, which all boot on a black screen, so bugs are still present and going on what is currently been posted over at Luma's Github issues.
