Gaming Let's suppose Nintendo would delay Mario Odyssey to 2018

It's definitely a possibility that this can happen and so I'm not even looking forward to Christmas 2018 anymore. Mario Odyssey is basically the one Switch game I want the most.

There's no way they could. At the January even they said they were pretty much completed with development. That's a whole year of polish.

Didn't Nintendo at some point said that the WiiU version of BotW was finished or something and then delayed it? I hope they don't delay it but it's Nintendo. :-/

Pikmin 4 seems like it could be finished and ready but still nowhere to be seen.

They delayed it because of the Switch.

Mario has probably been done for a while now. Unless there's some huge drastic change, its not gonna be delayed.

I think they will release it around Nov or Dec 2017.
They said the game is pretty much done they are just spacing out the releases.
Because right now we have zelda at launch. Then Arms and Spaltoon 2 for summer.
Fall im not sure, but it will probably be said at E3
And then winter will be Mario.

Don't know. I thought the same when they announced Mario 128 back in the Gamecube-ish era, then that got transferred to the Wii, then got cancelled. Never trust Nintendo announcements. Meh.

Why? Seems incredibly pessimistic and nothing has been said at this point that should lead anyone to believe that this is the case. Wait until E3 before you start to get upset over hypotheticals.

Take it easy. I am sure it will be release this fall 2017 ( I don't want Christmas 2017 instead of Christmas 2018, mind you). Again, wait for E3 announcement for precisely release date.

They just can't. If they delayed Mario Oddysey to 2018 , there should be a good reason of it.
Its true Breath of the wild has been delayed since 2014 (not 2011 like some people think , that zelda showed on the Wii U 2011 trailer was just for show and not part of Breath of the wild) , mostly in 2014-2015 to do some details , but on 2016 it got delayed due to the Switch launch and Mario Oddysey is apparently not having that situation. Besides , Mario 3D games have never been delayed i think.

Well pretty soon games will take a whole decade to complete, and when they're finally done the systems they made them for will be obsolete, causing the developers to start over again for the next generation.

Publishers will never have to provide an actual product, just take in cash from non-refundable preorders.

People already have more fun getting hyped than they do playing the disappointment of a game.

This is all assuming yet another Switch title gets delayed to 2018 lol

BotW was delayed about 2-3 times before they officially announced it'd be on the Switch so there could've been the possibility of staying as a WiiU exclusive. Nintendo and delays are something to be expected nowadays.

Super Paper Mario was also planned to be originally released on GameCube and then they moved it to the Wii. The GC version was cancelled.

Well, it's what happens with Nintendo delaying games too frequently and still not ending up all that great, whether in performance or other aspects.

They can. Ninty can just say they need to make improvements or w/e and there you go waiting another year.

I'd say Mario will definitely be out this year. As for delays, a game like BOTW is far more intricate in design than your average Mario game. I'm thinking they'll release it in time for xmas hoping that it sells more consoles.

SMO looks like the biggest 3D Mario game ever, even with open world features so while it's not as grand as BotW was, it's still going to be a pretty big game.

My bet is November 2nd or 3rd week in to it. So it's in that sweet spot for Christmas sales.

Sorry I just can't be that cynical. Sure BOTW was delayed but came out all the better for the extra time spent on it. Then plenty of big name titles recently have been right on schedule: ARMS, Splatoon 2, all the recent Fire Emblem games, pokemon Sun and Moon, etc. etc. I see no reason to assume this game is delayed until Nintendo actually gives a good reason to assume as much.
