I hope this is in the right spot. Sorry if not.

So I grabbed a SanDisk 128gb microSD card with adapter. I read I need to format it to FAT 32. Upon putting the SD adapter with card into my computer I was unable to format or for that matter transfer any files due to a write protection issue. The Lock on my SD adapter is unlocked but I cannot move anything. I tried with multiple cards to I due not believe it to be the cards as they work in other devices. Must be the adapter right? Has anyone had this issue?

Once again, sorry if this is not an appropriate place for the thread. I googled around but could not get a satisfactory answer. Figured I would turn to the community for help.

Weird. Can you do anything with the card, such as a normal format? Otherwise the issue is not that you don't know how to force format the card to FAT32, but that the card is possibly damaged or counterfeit.

Try a different adapter first. MicroSD cards don't have write protection switches.

I will need to grab another adapter and check. I was thinking that could be the issue as well. I tried it with a 4gb and 16 gb. They read as does the 128. But I can't delete or add anything to them. When I slap the 16gb and 4gb in my phone and link to the PC they work fine. I am assuming it is the adapter. Just wanted to check if anyone had any issues with this as well.

If its a write protection error, I am so sorry. It's broken. A microsd that has a write protection error on multiple devices is broken.

r u using a new 3ds? I personally use a usb adapter with the micro sd instead of using an sd card adapter. if other cards read, u probably have a counterfeit or something is wrong with the micro sd. ebay has information about how counterfeit flash media works, so u should consult that. they also have articles about how to spot fake media. this is usually an issue with ebay which is y I always use newegg even if it's more expensive.

As far as I know, windows will not format an SD card to fat 32 if it is above 32 gigabytes. Maybe try downloading a program to format it to fat 32 and see if that works? That's what I did.

I was not using Windows. I was using AOMEI Pro.

I think some of you are misunderstanding my issue. All of the Micro SD cards register and read and show up on the computer, they are all just write protected at that point in the SD adapter. When I put the 4 and 16 gb in my phone file transfer they work. My phone does not support a 128gb card though, so I couldn't go that route anyways. I am assuming it is the Adapter that just won't unlock for some reason even though it is in the unlocked position.

Hope that clears things up. A USB micro sd adapter is sounding like a good option. as someone mentioned above. But I would like to try another adapter to see if mine was the problem.

Also , the card and adapter came straight brand new from Walmart. So I doubt it is counterfeit. I trust the Waltons. lol.

Worse comes to worse, I will run up and get them to replace the product.

I am using a New 3DSXL. A USB to micro SD is sounding like a good option at this point. Would like to see if it works with another adapter as well. Like I said the card is registering. Just has the write protection for some reason.

my usb adapter allows for full sd cards as well. u just need to change the orientation of the card. I did buy that on ebay though, but it hasn't failed me so far. it says "iogear" on the front of it.

Okay everyone. I ran back up to Wally this morning and exchanged the microSD and card adapter for a new one. Same brand. But I also bought a USB multicard reader. Through the Micro SD in my multicard reader and formatted no problem. Transferring now. I tried another card in the new Adapter that came with my Micro SD as well. Same problem. I am thinking it is just something with the SanDisk Adapter? Either way, I am good to go. Thank you for any replies. I do appreciate it.
