Hacking Vita SD adapter - who can properly solder?

So i have 3 1004 Fat vita's with 3 x 64 GB.
I would love to make it one vita with 256 GB

I wouldn't dare to open up my vita, nor do i have soldering skills.
I know this is early in the game (as they are early prototypes) , I am just wondering, if someone is able, willing or perhaps even live in my country(netherlands) who would be able to pull this off. Would be paying anyone for this ofcourse.

I wouldn't dare to open up my vita

Do you ever open your computer to clean out the dust build up in your fans? because it really is a very simple process opening up the vita You can buy the tools to open it up for like 5$ usd? maybe a little more, but that's all it should really cost. It's going to require that psvsd board which I'm pretty sure will have someone in china making them since it's open source and they get cheap shipping. beside that you'll need a microsd to sd adapter to equip that sd card which is 10$ usd and fit it in there somehow. I think it can be worth it. Though idk how many games I'd wanna play. I mean woah at that 3x 64 gb vita cards. Do you watch movies on those? xD

If it turns out successful , I'll get batches made, I've done PCB manufacturing before it's not hard.

Note:It's open source anyone can make a batch with the gerber files lol.

Agreed. Just recently pulled apart my Vita to replace both thumbsticks. Aside from some beginner anxiety and having to look at a disassembly video first, it's actually quite simple to take a Vita apart and put it back together.

Opening up your Vita isn't hard , honestly I bought my PS Vita few days ago and I've already teared it apart and added a USB port(Check the thread), adding a proper USB port tomorrow , Yifan Lu is amazing and has inspired me with an idea you may all like , but for now it's under wraps.

Honestly it's not hard just familiarize yourself with it and watch some videos and what not.

I can understand the fear in taking something apart especially if you never done so before/lack experience. or in this case it's not cheap to replace. Beyond YouTube videos I would also check out places like iFixit.com They have amazing guides with pictures and links to all the tools they use.

Tips for beginners :

• Buy a £10/$10 soldering iron for practice(Don't use on actual work they're shit for that purpose).
• Once you feel like you're confident soldering then move onto a proper soldering station or a decent well rated cheap iron.
• DO NOT use the cheap screwdrivers as they will damage your screws and end up screwing you instead, I would recommend draper screw drivers they are well priced and work well.
• Use iFixit a lot since they state what screw driver is best for the job and deliver precise instructions.
• Build up your confidence in the sector before attempting anything as hesitation will also screw you over.
• MOST IMPORTANTLY don't ever be afraid to ask the community for help , that's what we're here for

Forgot to mention that if your PS Vita is not a 3G 1xxx series then you will have to solder and Mini PCI-E slot , it's not hard , if you feel pressured just pay someone to do it , I would do it but last time I offered my services here I got judged.

Small thing to add

Yes get a cheapo soldering iron and buy some solder wire and open up and broken tech( most toys have a motherboard) and practice on that. It's already broken can't make it any worse.

Actually I can't stand it when people act helplessly xd People should try and try again and try try again. It may be because I've always been more of a loner and had family that complained of bad things and never looked at the good in life, but nobody in the community needs to help they do it of sympathy. Everyone has their journey and begging swallows pride, it's ok to be confused, but we should want to explore and learn rather than giving up and not trying.

Yeah not that hard , search a PCH 1xxx motherboard and compare it to a PCH 11xx motherboard, all the parts are there except the antenna plugs but who needs that unless you plan to use the 3G GSM module(who the hell would?), there are also other parts but that's for whoever is doing it to figure out.

Why to use mpcie but not to solder pcb with card reader directly with proper pin-out?? Anyway it should be recognized as USB bus!!!

Missing other components also take into account the PSVSD board will be a pain to solder every single individual pins, just solder the port and you have a easy swapping method as well.

Pros:

• Well it's in the PS Vita hard wired in.

Cons:

• Pain to remove and swap.
• Not everyone can do it without some basic skills.
• It will just be jumping about in the PS Vita without some method to secure.
• Useless if you can use the port.
• may acquire more space but depends if you're efficient with space limited stuff.
