I tried googling this a few times and though there are a lot of topics covering this, there is not one with my exact query. I am assuming that the EZ Flash IV can act as a Slt 2 flashcard so I can load GBA games through my R4I Gold 3DS flash card on my DS Lite but it is too expensive to just buy it on a hunch.

Thanks in advance :)

ez flash iv is a standalone slot 2 card.. it doesn't require a slot 1 card at all.
it has a micro\mini sd slot, which you store your games on it and every operation is done by the cart itself
you could get this card for a gba with no problem or limitations

only the ez 3 in 1 requires a slot 1 flashcart to write roms into, since it doesnt' have it's own sd slot.. therefore if you had a 3 in 1 and wanted to use it as a cartridge for your gba, you would require a ds and a slot1 card to write games on it (i am not even sure if a gba could launch a 3 in 1, but i don't see no reason why it wouldn't work on a gba...)

Yeah I know but I also understand that it has its own little battery that can run out where as the R4i Gold 3DS does not. Also I have a good memory card in my R4i so I do not want to get another one for my EZ Flash IV so yeah I appreciate the reply but it does not really answer my question. :)

It did work, at least as far as I've tried it. I'm not sure if it is officially supported, tho.

The programs to flash things to the EZ4 may not work with the newer models, and prior to that had a nasty habit overwriting the loader.
The battery is there to store the save between the game making it and the loader being loaded so as to pull the save from it and write it to the SD card. If the battery dies your DS slot cart is not going to do an awful lot. Likewise you should have an option to do a soft reset to get back to the loader, even if the quick power off and on does not work (SRAM loses data without power but it tends to be measured in seconds). Not to mention the battery is a common type of cell (varies between models but all still common) which you should be able to find in loads of places.

It was a CR2025 or CR2032, right?

I don't think it had 2032 in there. Those are the ones you tend to put into computers.

Some of the very earliest were also VL2020 (a rechargeable 2020 cell from Panasonic), later ones lost the charge circuitry and instead just had one time 2020s. The 2025 came with the shift to microSD in the GBA size models the other year.

There are also the EZ4 lite, EZ4 lite compact and EZ4 lite deluxe models to consider. I probably wrote them all down before somewhere but can't be bothered to go searching right now, or just look at mine.

The general policy of "open, find numbers, replace with same or one which outputs the same voltage and has suitable dimensions" will work though. Can be hard finding ones with the tabs in the right locations and directions but you can usually find something you can bend around and throw leads around for.

Does anyone have a link to a tutorial on how to run GBA games on R4i Gold 3DS? I am starting to think it is not possible. I did get a EZ Flash IV and I thought i can just pop it in at the bottom and the GBA games will load through my R4i cart but that does not seem to be the case. Can you run GBA runs on a R4i card with a slt 2 cart inserted or must you run it through the slt 2 cart?

If you mean can I use my EZ4 like a 3 in 1 expansion pack then the programs that could do it, for the old EZ4s at least, once again had a nasty habit of bricking the EZ4 so we don't link them up. If popping a ds cart out to run the GBA is too annoying then you can probably get something done with flashme (you have versions which you can hold buttons when powering on the GBA to force it to boot certain slots) but I will have to look into that.

You can't run GBA games straight on a DS slot cart. They are too slow and are accessed in different ways. Some can emulate the GBA but they do this by having extra hardware onboard to run the emulator on, there is also a DS code GBA emulator but it is not good and certainly nothing you would want to use if you have an EZ4 right there to play with.
