Been out of the 3DS loop for a while and I'm unsure about what it is. Is it better than AL9H, what does it offer?

It doesn't really offer that much over A9LH, but all future versions of Luma will only support B9S, dropping support for A9LH entirely. Also, some ARM9 Homebrew like GodMode9 takes advantage of B9S-exclusive entrypoints.

Ive been curious about this. I know b9s gives access to the arm11 cpu as well, but what extra features does godmode9 add?

Damnit, forgot I had japanese on.

What does it mean that it can access arm11?

With a9lh, it was an exploit in the arm9 cpu, meaning payloads made for it only had access to the arm9 cpu. Not that b9s is out, it triggers before pretty much anything, giving it access to both the arm9 and arm11 cpu.

So technically, we could install a CIA from B9S?

just go here and update to it >>>> https://3ds.guide/updating-to-boot9strap

i was on a9lh like you, and since luma will be updating only for b9s from now on i quickly had to update to it.
and those on a9lh have it very simple to update to it, it takes literally like a few minutes to update to b9s from a9lh.

so just go to the site i posted and update.

Well, you sound like you know what you're talking about. What sort of things do we have to look forward to in the future that can only be achieved with SigHax?

Was going to post a similar thread so may as well ask in here if that's ok, I'm currently on 11.3 with luma 6.6 on o3ds xl, n3ds xl & 2ds. Is it ok to just update luma to 7.05(or whatever the last al9h version was) manually and update to 11.4?

For the time being at least, will keep an eye on this and think about upgrading to bootstrap9 in the future.

Not tested my 2ds, but both of my 3ds xls didn't give me the ban error when I tried connecting to the friends list. Had to use that homebrew both at by-passes the update check, didn't by-pass the check when trying to get the mega stones on Pokemon sun tho thus why I want to upgrade to 11.4.

I don't really play online so the ban wouldn't normally be a big issue, however not having access to pokebank is an issue. Also does the ban stop being able to get the event Pokemon etc?

Not sure about event pokemon. Thanks for not making another thread, and You should be good to go on updating, with or without updating to latest luma version

Is there still stuff not working when upgrading to 11.4? Back when 11.4 first came out I read on here there were thing it broke, remeber reading about things working on o3ds/2ds but not on n3ds or vice-versa however I've not kept up in the past few months so is there any such problems still?

Was asking about upgrading luma as ove kept reading people say to upgrade luma when upgrading the fw, so will there be any issues on 6.6?

AFAIK, since its early days it has had Firm patches, so no risk in updating with 6.6. People just say to do all of your updates at once. If you stay on 6.6, there may be things that are broken like HBL

11.4 is fine for all things for me. HBL, CIAs, FreeShop, FBI, B9S. Whatever you want. Updating Luma is just a fail-safe in case anything doesn't work once you update

If you're a developer, or someone who likes knowing how the 3DS works, then yes. It doesn't really have many advantages for the normal user except for Luma updates; so if you use Luma, you should update...

Looks like you were replying as I was editing my last post, when the update first came out I remember there was issues with updated o3ds/2ds or n3ds more so than the other(can't remember details), is there any such issues now?

Not that I know of. I have a N3DS and my friends have an o3ds, and everything works fine on both ends.

Ok thanks for your replies, I'll look to upgrade one system at a time and keep my fingers crossed I've dodged the ban on at least my new 3ds xl if not all three. I should have gone with my initial decision of keeping nthe n3ds unhacked, but in the end I decide YoLO just hope it doesn't come back to bite me in the ass.

I don't know about the future but right now the only things B9S/SigHax has over A9LH is Luma support, boot time is 3 seconds faster and the ability to dump boot9, boot11 and the OTP(this last part is strictly B9S).

If you do end up with a banned 3ds later on, there are always ways to fix it.
