Impossible. It was patched, and you cannot receive/send messages without updating.
Yeah, it does suck :b. If you and a friend have the same model of 3DS, a hackable DSiWare, and they have boot9strap, you can hack it. You need the same DSiWare though, and you actually have to buy it, not pirate it.

Yep. We already have a working payload for n3DS, but you would have to use another entrypoint.
The only thing you (and me too btw rip) can do is wait for a new arm9 and therefore probably arm11 exploit (e.g. otherapp.bin), a new primary exploit will then be on the way by MrNbaYoh, a free one to be exact. Just wait and get yourself a nice cup of tea, as I'm doing right now

It will produce messages asking if you want to update. but you can use v1.1.1 just without the option to send or recieve messages
