Hello there,

This is probably not a new problem, but I only found old and outdated suggestions.
When I try to write to NOR any of my games, they write relatively fast, but when I go to NOR memory and SD card folder, game which I wrote to NOR is not showing up. It's just not there.

I am using newest 1.78 FW
Black model, bought cart a month ago.
Any suggestions? :(

Wild guess: you are using a classic GBA wit rechargeable batteries, right?

I have the same issue on my classic GBA when using rechargeable batteries but it works fine with regular alkaline batteries. Also works fine on my GBA SP. My guess is that it's a power issue.

Dear lord, what even...
Like, wow.
Yes, you are right, I'm using classic GBA with rechargeable batteries.
Alkaline batteries solved the problem.
This doesn't make any sense to me, but I'm glad that solution is so simple.
All day long I formated cards, tried various firmwares, set up virtual Windows XP machine and tried patching rom's with official client through it.
Thank you localhorst86, you made me smile for the first time today.

Nice to hear. My guess it's a voltage issue. Alkaline batteries have 1.5V whereas rechargeable batteries only have 1.2V. This is usually not a problem and most devices will work fine with recharagbles but it looks like the EZFlash IV is very picky about its voltage for NOR operations and the lower voltage provided to the GBA might resolve In a lower internal voltage after conversion.

Peeteris. My old 2nd generation Eneloop XX rechargeables would write to the EZ IV NOR fine in a classic. They're pretty much the best rechargeables you can get. Another option is to get some Ni-Zn AA rechargeables. They are rated at 1.6v. I use these in a voltage sensitive power hungry camera.

For me, eneloop pro are not able to write to the NOR most of the time, very rarely would they work. Alkalines are really your safest bet for NOR operations. But yeah, if they work for you, that's great, I agree that the eneloop pro are one of the best rechargeables around. :)

Ah, not got my classic anymore and those Sanyo's are long gone (sold with a spare GP2X) so you're in a better position to advise him as my memory's probably a little hazy on it. I charged them in a Powerex MH-C9000 and I remember they would read at 1.4v in my tester. Probably didn't didn't write to the NOR often enough to notice the unreliability (although I do recall having issues with some Ansmann's). Either that, or those old Gen2 XX's were oddballs. Have you tried the 5th Gen Pro's? I have some here (unopened) but like I said, I've not got my classic anymore. Ni-Zn batteries will work fine though if he wants to go the rechargeable route for all operations.

According to the German Wikipedia page on eneloop I have to 4th Gen eneloop xx/pro labeled bk-3hcde. Not sure how accurate this info is, though:

https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/NiMH-...ger_Selbstentladung#Eneloop-Vergleichstabelle
You have the latest 5th Gen Pro's Localhorst, same as me. The 4th Gen Pro Eneloops were 'BK-3HCCE'. If you look on that page, they have the last Gen production of XX Sanyo's as the 3rd Gen, and the 1st batch of Panasonic's Pro's still at Gen 3. Panasonic's 1st Pro production batch was Gen 4.
So, they're still unreliable at writing the NOR on a classic. Damn, and they are the best AA rechargeable you can buy too. Looks like I'd be using my Ni-Zn's if I ever pick up another classic to mod or something. Cheers.
