I've recently been looking into a new flashcard for my dsi. The ones I've had my eyes on are the ds two (it seems to get the most praise) and the ievo (sadly is no longer supported) I personally like the new features of the dstwo but dsi mode homebrew/dsiware is very important to me. What would you recommend?

The DSTwo is better, the iEvo's DSi Mode doesn't really work too well

Really why. Genuine question what's wrong it cause I keep looking out for one on eBay cause I wanna put a shed load of dsi roms on one as it's the only way to play dsi roms. Yes I know my 3ds can play dsiware but quite honestly I like the dsi better.

Sometimes it doesn't work well, if you find a bug it will not be fixed because it's not being actively developed, the implementation of DSi mode is just weird, and the list goes on and on

I've been using my 3ds to play dsi homebrew and dsi ware as of late but I do also prefer the original dsi for those so that is why I'm looking

I must have fallen asleep behind the wheel, where are all these DSi Homebrew titles? I never knew about them, just DSi enabled software like DS-10+ and the DSiware Shop.

The issue with the iEVO is that the devs behind the card didn't completely finish the DSi-Mode, then just up and left the scene with everyone's money. It doesn't work with most DSi-Enabled games and there were only a few handfuls of DSi-Mode homebrews. Coupled with the fact that the DSi-Mode exploit they were using was patched out in later firmware updates.

As for the OP, I've always rather enjoyed my R4i Gold (url on cart: r4ids.cn,) It officially supports Wood R4 and all of the Wood features, plus it's light on the battery.
The DSTWO is worth it if you want the extra power for features like the GBA emulator and SNES emulator, but it does have some serious battery drain.

I loved the dsi. Always pick one up when I see one cheap to add to my collection of them.

We are the monster collectors. I have 50 DSis according to my spreadsheet, I know...its crazy hoarding. Was buying them cheap. I could not get to them all for a photo like yours though too much work. Looks like I have twenty unique DSi and DSi bundles with the rest being dups or trips. There are many hiding in brown boxes.

Your doing it to me again...ugh. I pulled some out of storage. Here is a shot of my NIB O3DS collection. Followed by some of my 2DS systems. The list at the end gives you an idea of my collection. Some like yourself I have extras of. There is another box of flashcards I was collecting. I'm into Not For Resale carts and the DS Download Station carts also. Why...next on hoarders...

It doesn't work with most DSi-Enabled games and there were only a few handfuls of DSi-Mode homebrews.

Are you sure about that? As I recall the main reason DSi Enhanced games didn't work with it was because they were not dumped correctly early on. The iEvo expects the roms to have encrypted modcrypt sections and encrypted secure areas I think and all the rom dumpers I know of dump them with that stuff decrypted as well as all the "scene" dumps you find in illecit sites.

Though as long as you have a relatively modern dumper like GodMode9 on 3DS or wooddumper_r89, you can get valid dumps. You'll just have to re-encrypt NTR and TWL secure areas (I tend to call the TWL secure area modcrypt, but the terms cover the same thing basically. :P )

That was the main thing the iEvo was picky about. I think the issue was that it's compatibility with NTR only games while in DSi mode was spotty and that might be what you remembered bad about it. But it has a setting for switching it into DS mode. My DSi has hax installed and I already downgraded it to 1.4. I can even modify the DS Cart white list to white list a custom icon for it should I ever figure out how to flash a custom icon to it for the NTR mode rom it uses. :P (FYI, 1.4 System Menu did not have RSA checks for the DS Cart White list file, so you can do what ever you want to that file pretty much. :D )

I know a site that sells the iEvo for around $40. Same place I got my DS-Xtreme too. Kinda don't want to reveal where because I don't want them to be sold out when the 3rd of June rolls around when I finally will pick one up. :D

I do apologize if I got any details wrong, I was summarizing by memory. Plus it's a community I had very little part of when it was active

No problem. :P Also, the iEVo has a DS mode setting in the menu that makes the card switch to a NTR rom for doing roms/homebrew in NTR mode. (The DS mode side of it still works on 1.4.5 DSi's I believe, but you'd have to boot it on something else first to get it into NTR mode). I never owned one though so I don't know how well it does compatibility wise. But I assume it's comparable to today's cards. It came out during the DSi era after all and that was near the end of the DS's life span. I'm going on the stuff I've read about the card. Besides, if Normmatt owns one, that must mean it's worth having. :D
