Hi Guys,

I was wandering if anyone had these issues below with there Nintendo Switch.

First I have read a few articles about the Switch not working right on its launch with some quite serious issues being mentioned but to be honest with you all I have not come across any of these major faults myself, yet I say but I have had a couple of issues lately which I have not come across in any articles so far so I'm asking here if any other Switch owners have come across these faults:

My first big issue was this> I had left my Switch in sleep mode over night and when I went to use it again the next day it had completely locked down on me, just frozen nothing worked so I thought it was broke good and proper but I held the power button down for over a good 10 seconds, powered it back up again and it worked all ok, hmm a bit worrying I thought!

Second major issue was just yesterday> again it had been in sleep mode I went to use Mario Kart 8D online it would not connect so I went to the system settings searched for my wifi connection it connected ok but when I ran the connection test it kept failing to connect to the servers, so it told me on screen. I kept trying but still it would not work so I again held the power button down for over 10 seconds, rebooted it back up again and it connected fine so these issues seem to be related to being in sleep mode.

Has anyone else come across these same issues yet or had anything similar happen when you have had to hold the power button down and reboot the Switch back up again after a long sleep mode to get it working back to normal again?

Thanks :)

I had to restart my Switch because for some reason it wouldn't connect properly to the wired LAN internet connection.

Why would you have the switch in sleep mode for that long?

I suppose I have just left it and its switched itself off. Maybe its not sleep mode, maybe it has just shut down but I would of thought when you go to use it again like I did and press the home button it would go to the switch logo powering up and not straight to the home page?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

are you closing the game and putting it in sleep mode or leaving the game open?
I always press the home button when I have been using the game and leave it and that's it. I never actually X button out the game I never close it down completely unless I'm changing games.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I always leave mine on Sleep Mode so I get back straight to the game. Don't see why not use this awesome mode.
Yes agreed sleep mode is easy and awesome to use, why not, its less hassle! I do the same as you, its easier to get back in game from where you left off.

Also you had a similar issue but with ethernet connecting, strange?

First time.

My Switch once froze on the internet settings for some reason and had to press the I/O button for 10secs to shut it down. Weird launch issues.

I was worried the first time when it froze on me and I had to power down but the second time happening when I had to force the power down again, that was particularly worrying, it really feels like something is major wrong with it and needs fixing!

Alright I assume you run the latest firmware?

The freezing have happened to me once. It was when the Switch connected to my WLAN at the same time I opened BOTW. Else I have never had any freeze issues.
Try changing your Wifi channels. It's amazing how well it works to fix the most common issues.

Hmmm... I think not. Weirdly enough, I haven't had the system crashing on me yet.
All systems crash from time to time, I expected this to have happened to me already, but still not.

Yes, I've had this.
But as this happens from time to time with my XB1S and iMac, I didn't pay too much attention to it.

This happened to me also when I was messing with the parental controls app and settings.
Just restart the switch and the wifi works again.
It only happened once to me tho.

I mean, all computer type devices crash once in a while, nothing out of the ordinary there, but the OS on the Switch has a lot of bugs. It should not lockup from being in rest mode, my PS4 and 3DS never have. And wifi issues are known.

Be happy if your friends list works properly, because mine doesn't. I gotta go to the page with my friends in my profile for it to update who's online and what they are doing if they were online already.

I'm guessing that the Wi-Fi resource leak probably hasn't been completely fixed so it's locking up (unless you're not on latest firmware)

Just keep regularly power cycling until an update cones out that fixes it
I'm on the latest firmware I'm just hoping its not a regular occurrence for me. If not, then yes that's my best option.
try turning it off, and back on
Done that! that's what sorted the issue out eventually for me but I didn't realize that until I did it. I thought it was broke to begin with!
maybe you've overloaded the switch doing that all the time?
I've only done it twice so far! I'm hoping its a bit more stable than that. Maybe more updates are needed with "stability"!
I swear if they dont fix those things in a year...
I'm going to swear a lot if it happens again!

Someone else mentioned the same as you about the WLAN Connection, it does sound like a connection problem. Yep I'm on the latest firmware but I don't think its a channel thing I think its a Switch buggy thing but I will try it anyway, if it happens again.

Your lucky its only happened once! I thought my Switch was going well considering the reports about it but now I'm feeling less confident especially since yesterdays episode.

Yeah I suppose you have to have glitches with new stuff but twice was too much for me I felt let down.
This happened to me also when I was messing with the parental controls app and settings.
Just restart the switch and the wifi works again.
It only happened once to me tho.
That's what I had to do was force a power down and restart I really had to shove that power button down hard, agreed it was ok after that restart but then it happened again which I wasn't pleased about.

That's what I thought from being in sleep mode and doing it twice that was a bit concerning. I understand maybe it doing it once but doing it twice in a matter of just over a couple of days felt a bit crappy. I haven't tested the friends page out yet I have got no friends :(

You can try to format it as well.

Turn it completely off.
Volume + and - at the sametime when you hold power on.

There you have an option to bascially wipe it but keep your saves.
