How to inject gba .sav save file into gba vc

Disclaimer : You need to patch pokemons roms and roms hacks with that https://filetrip.net/3ds-downloads/...ix-pack-for-pokemon-gba-games-1-0-f33538.html

Backstory : I had a lot of problems finding clear solution for this problem (wanting to continue my FF6 advance started on :psp:), so now that I have the solution i think it's a good idea to post it.

This tutorial is for people that s tarted to play a gba game on emulator, on :psp: or pc or whatever else, and want to continue to play on 3ds, without losing the progressionB-)
This work with official vc title as well as injected title with this : https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-ultimate-gba-vc-injector-for-3ds.438057/

This tutorial is made for luma cfw : https://3ds.guide/
You need decrypt9 for this (installed as payload, and with a key associated with it, so that you can boot into it directly) : https://gbatemp.net/threads/download-decrypt9-open-source-decryption-tools-wip.388831/
How to associate a key to a payload : https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/wiki/Other-features-and-notes

You need to install this homebrew (maybe this will work without it by just powering off and then powering on but not sure) : https://gbatemp.net/threads/homebrew-quick-reboot-cfw-gateway-ninjhax.379101/

While the 3ds is powered off

-First you just take the .sav file that should be in the same directory as your rom .gba
-Rename it gbavc.sav
-Put it in your 3ds sd card /files9

Power on the 3ds
-Lauch your gba game installed on the 3ds then close it
-Quick reboot while holding the key you assigned to decrypt9 using the homebrew "quick reboot"

In decrypt9
-Go to synandoption -> miscellaneous -> gba save import

-follow the very simple instructions, press start to reboot and lauch your gba game to see if it worked

Then just play your game :grog:

Tested works on luma 7.0.4 O3ds 11.4 eu with ff6 advance

Which version of Decrypt9 are you using for this guide? I tried using Decrypt9WIP, and it appeared to have failed...

Make sure you are following all the steps maybe?

Make sure you have the latest version of Decrypt9 and try again, or ask someone else :)

Wait, I followed all of the steps correctly, but I think it didn't work because the save file is a different region than the .cia I was using...

(I took the save file from my NA Wii u GbaVc and tried to inject it into a EU .cia)

EDIT:
Lastest WIP from github.
Yep, it was the .cia file. I guess I'll just make a NA Vc inject then...

Yes you have to use the same rom on emulator and on 3ds for this to work. I recommend to inject it with that https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-ultimate-gba-vc-injector-for-3ds.438057/

It didn't work on my friend's N3DS XL. What went wrong?

I am trying to do this now in 2018 and am using the latest release of Decrypt9, yet I don't see the option gba save import, only gba vc save dump/inject. Should I download a different release?

This method is outaded. I think there is better and easier way to do this now. I think you should do it with godmod 9.
https://3ds.guide/godmode9-usage.html
The section restore gba save.
