Gaming What counts as coins collected towards unlocking parts?

Is it the amount of coins you finish a race with (i.e. a max of 10), or the total number collected during the race (i.e. could be much more than 10)?

Only how much you have when you finish the race. If it was during the race, there would be no need for a limit and you would unlock everything immediately

uhh... yes, there would be. coins increase your max speed. if it could go up indefinitely, you could not only go fast as fuck, but getting hit (and losing 3 coins) would not be an issue.

They do but for the real speed increase you'll need to drift till you get the ultra boost.

Depending and how hard or slow your kart drifts it's really hard to get that, plus the game wasn't originally designed for the ultra drift, but when you get it it's so fast lol

Not originally intended? The pink boost is just an improvement based on the orange boost, it takes slightly longer to get there but not too much different. It's something that again, Nintendo could have added to the WiiU version but didn't.

While it is an obvious cash grab for the people who didn't have the original and all the dlc it's very worth it
