I let my brother play with my N3DSXL which I installed emuNAND (I don't remember which firmware but its around 11.xxxx - I haven't update in months)

After he gave it back to me, I couldn't let it boot up to the menu anymore. However, I still can boot to sysNand menu and check the firmware (it is 9.2.0.20U) so it means he did not accidentally upgrade my sysNand.

I think he my messed up my menuhax or update the emuNand to the latest firmware.

I still can choose to boot: ReiNand, Cakes, rxTools or HomeBrew launch. But only Homebrew launch is succeeded to load. When I chose ReiNand, only picture of the girl appears then the bottom screen and top screen are black. (I tried to update to the latest ReiNand 5.1 and same result - only picture of the girl load then both screens are black.)

If you guys have any ideas how to fix this or show me the guide, please let me know. I tried to use google but I haven't found any answer yet.

Thank you.

Thank you your quick answer. So you mean I just load Homebrew launch and reinstall menuhax? I just want to make sure before I make things worse.

yup just launch it from homebrew browser and reinstall it, then remember to set up your trigger keys for it (what button to load menuhax to load emunand with ctrbootmanager vs. bypassing into 9.2)

Why are you on 9.2 in the first place??? Get A9LH. The newest methods are extremely safe and can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours.

I just tried to install menuhax again but it gave me error: Install failed: 0xd8a0a046

First, I powered my N3DSXL off. Then turned it on, let it go to boot option: I chose Homebrew Launch.

Then I chose menuhax, install (first option). Then it throw the above error. Press start to exit.

What should I do now?

Cause I haven't touched my 3DS in a while. And if I decide to go with A9LH, where should I start? Is there any advantage when my 3DS has emuNAND already?

Start at 3ds.guide. It should have a part where you can move your EmuNAND.

There is a part where you can move your EmuNAND. Just follow the guide. Do not skip any steps! It will tell you when to move your EmuNAND.

I am going to be honest with you and heavily suggest you ditch the old menuHAX setup and start upgrade to A9LH. Most of the users on this site aren't really experienced with menuHAX anymore, so help is starting to spread really thin. Even my knowledge of menuHAX is becoming spotty. Please consider checking out the guide, setting up A9LH has become extremely easy, safer, and a lot faster. Plus you can ditch that old emuNAND for CFWs on your sysNAND. You can also keep using the same CFWs, I know because I am running all of the currently active CFWs on my 3DS

Should I reset my N3DSXL before doing A9LH? Because I remember I install some cia files and FBI on my sysNAND. Or I just start doing it right away.

You can start from your current sysNAND. You don't need to reformat or anything. Just start from here
https://3ds.guide/get-started-(new-3ds)

If I using A9LH hack, I will lose all my save and NNID (Nintendo ID) on my emuNAND right? I mean everything that I have on my emuNAND (40Gbs) cause right now I can't boot in my emuNAND to back them up.

Sorry for asking too much cause I really don't want to mess up again.

No, you'll lose nothing. Follow the guide exactly and do the move emuNAND section when it tells you, and you'll have a sysNAND-only setup with all your data and games and saves from your emuNAND. And you won't have an emuNAND anymore.

You can never ask too many questions! You have them, I will answer them! I would much rather help you so you don't loose anything!
Right, so I always suggest backing everything up first. Not that anything back will happen, but safe than sorry. From there, once you've installed A9LH, you can use Hourglass9 to backup your emuNAND and then reflash it back to your sysNAND. That will transfer all of the information of the emuNAND to the sysNAND (games, saves, etc.) will now be readable from your sysNAND instead of an emuNAND.
You can use any CFW with a chainloader to boot into hourglass9, the guide suggests Luma3DS and does instruct on how to setup the Luma3DS chainloader. So I suggest following that part of the guide. (Both Luma3DS and Corbenik have a chainloader)
Once everything is confirmed and setup, you can use emuNAND9 to reformat the SD properly and remove your old emuNAND....this is actually why I suggested the backup.
The guide does go into more detail though, so this is more of a quick reference guide in a post.

First of all thank you for your time and patience.

As you said above, my microSD card has 40GBs data, and it will be able to transfer all the save and data back to sysNAND. And I only have to use 01 microSD which I use for emuNAND.

You have the option to eather run the latest luma on your emunand with menuhax if you wish, which should bypass the black screen.Or upgrade to a9lh and get a proper bootrate.

I managed to download the latest Luma but when I chose to run it from Homebrew launch, the same thing happened (black screen on top and bottom). I think I need to fix the menuhax first or go with the A9LH.

Make shure you have a folder called "luma" on the root.If you don't have one make one and make shure you also have arm9loaderhax.bin on the root too.

Try deleting the Home Menu Extdata from the "Nintendo 3DS" fodler in your SD Card: https://3dbrew.org/wiki/Extdata
After that power the console, in the Home Menu enter to the Home Menu Settings and in here enter to the Chaneg Theme menu so the consoel creates the Home Menu Extdata again.
After that try installing HomeMenuHax from an entrypoint that you are able to use like BrowserHax.

The emuNAND information and sysNAND information are all stored on the same SD card. All the NAND does it read this information and show it to you. So by switching the information, you are basically just switching the folder your 3DS reads from.

Hi, I'm too lazy to post a new topic. Can I have a question here? Should I upgrade my 3ds to the latest firmware on sysnand or emunand?
