Hey, this is my first post, so if i'm doing something wrong please let me know.

The first indispensable thing is to block the Software Update servers, so if you are already connected to a wifi network, just go to settings-Internet-Internet Settings-Select your network-Change Settings-And change the DNS settings to manual and for both primary and secondary DNS set 173.255.238.217.

If you want to remove the annoying message caused by the update, follow this:

Make sure that you have linked a nintendo
account. Power off the switch and power it on pressing the two volume buttons. Hold the buttons until it boots. You will end up with a recovery mode screen. Now select Restore Factory Settings Without Deleting Save Data.
Set up the console and connect to the internet,
also don't forget to set the DNS.
Now you can enter the eshop and insert your password! It should be working perfectly, but you will need to reboot the console everytime you enter the eshop (the online gaming won't be working)

Nice finding but I just turn wifi off. I am not into online and never will. So wifi off is the way to go. Less hassle. :)
only problem with this though is you will get the update download in background if you ever wish to visit eshop, it's best to setup your dns even if you have wifi off most times to avoid an accidental update.

Also just resetting the console clears the downloaded update as long as you have not actually updated, no need to enter recovery mode just reset and it's gone for good if you have dns setup. Eshop nag will come back but your safe with dns, atm.

Yeah, you are right but I am not into eShop either and never liked eShop at all. I am into retail games (physical only) because I liked to collected an art boxes. So I am not worrying about that either. No online and no eShop at all. :)

No worries, if you factory reset I think you also have to redownload any dlc/updates for your physical carts or your save games don't work.I could be wrong.
That's what happened to me, and eshop worked perfectly to download botw update 1.1.2 or something like that

Yeah thought so.

*Off topic ramble...
Actually I haven't tried it but I believe that by factory resetting you could play a lower version of your carts, ie BOTW 1.0 again.

You wouldn't keep your save files ofc but if you wanted to play with the arrow farm glitch this could work.

As it stands deleting just the cart files/saves leaves the game unable to run at all unless updated back to the most recent version. I think if you archived/deleted save, factory reset keeping saves you should be able to play your cart on vanilla 1.0 again.
I could be wrong, it's not something that interests me but I did see some discussion about downgrading carts versions a while back.

Sorry for the off topic musings lol.

Have they now changed it so that if you want a zelda update or any other for that matter, you need to be on the latest fw? The last Zelda update, I just enabled my Wifi whilst still on V2.0.0, grabbed the title update, installed it and then turned off Wifi ever since.

not to my knowledge, they do prompt you for a system update but you can click no and procced to the game update I believe. I updated FastRMX and a NEO Geo while on 2.0.0 only a couple of days ago.
