So I bought the game for Wiiu along with all the dlcs that it had. Seeing it for the switch now, what's the real difference? It may have a few more characters and a better battle mode that not a lot of people play unless they are really bored. I'm tempted to buy it but do I really wanna pay $60 for the same game with minor differences. As I remember the online vs races were completely unbalanced cuz of 2nd place people getting stars while you are in last place only with a banana peel. Is it really worth it? I mean the least Nintendo should have done is give us a discount for the people who have it digitally purchased in their history. Maybe a 10 to 20% or something.

Unless you really loved it on the Wii U then don't bother. It seems like your emotions are tempting you to make an unwise decision.

Nintendo Everything pointed out that the Miis on the Switch version are emotionless compared to the WiiU version. Like, why did Nintendo remove their expressions? It makes no sense.

I hate that random luck of online races being 100cc/150cc because I just played some matches and it's back to 100cc (very few on 150cc). Mario Kart 8: Deluxe is not a 10/10 game but it's really good -- What the Wii U version should have been. :)

You don't know how much you missed battle mode until you play it again. All the other extra things are nice too and the small graphical upgrades are awesome too. 1080p baby. Also portable. Also no hackers online which is great.

Wait till it drops in price, you'll feel more justified in the purchase and the game will feel fresher.

Yes because I never owned the original on the Wii U plus it's a true portable game now with wireless play!

Anyone noticed that blue shells are used a little too often on online races? There were like 3 blue shells in one race, that's insane!

Yes 100% I couldn't agree more! MK8D is so much better than the wiiu version in every way possible also its MK8 on the move! Yeah well worth it and its reasonably cheap compared to most Switch games at the moment. It feels so good playing MK8 portable in your car or somewhere random, that was my first great impression on owning the Switch version waiting in my car on Friday afternoon and playing it, it really felt rather exciting!!

Edit: also it looks way better than the wiiu version to me! that's just my opinion on how it looks. Mentioning that, it feels better as well.

imo it is worth it. however, if you plan on doing split-screen, better buy another controller or 2 more joy cons because one joycon is hard to control with. that is the obvious tho

I didn't have it on WiiU, but I've been having a blast with it. It definitely gives my Switch something else to do other than collect dust. I'm not sure it looks THAT much better in console mode, but it's amazing to have a game of this quality running on a handheld.
