Just a quick and easy question for someone, as I'm looking for a quick answer XD

Official update - Firmware 11.4. Is it okay to install with Luma CFW and A9LH installed? Freeshop access still available?

Thanks :)
Update to Luma 7.0.1 first then update. Just know that if you have a n3DS and use NTR, NTR streaming is broken. You will still have freeShop.

I backed up my Pokemon Sun cartridge to cia and installed it. Went to eShop to update it. Is it normal to have the update size be the full 3gb (24xxx blocks)
No. DLC could be massive. I have seen ones that are over 1GB. The largest update I've seen was several hundred MB. I think SuMo update is only several hundred MB. Might be the version on eShop has been replaced with the version with the update included.

No. Once you're on 11.4 you're stuck on the waiting game.

If you have A9LH, then you can update to 11.4 without issue, as long as you're using a recent update of Luma3DS CFW. If you make a NAND backup before performing the system update, then restoring this backup will 'downgrade' your console back to whatever version it was before.

If you do not have A9LH, then do not update to 11.4, period.

I'm thinking about making a new nand backup. Is it still done with emunand9 or is there a new master race method to do it ?

Thank you.

Hi guys, looking for some help.

I've recently purchased a n3ds xl with luma3ds and hourglass pre-installed, but I don't have a clue what to do next lol. It's been wiped before I bought it, while keeping the luma3ds/hourglass. When I boot with the power button, I think the normal 3ds system loads, but if I hold start/select luma3ds/hourglass loads.

I've managed to have a look at what's on the included sd card, and it has a folder for cias, with the files fbi, luma3ds updater, freeshop and hblauncher_loader.
In the folder root>3ds>data, there's another folder for freeshop. So I guess freeshop has already been installed? I just don't know how to boot it.

So I guess my question is; How do I launch freeshop to download games?

Also, how do I check that there is a backup of the system in case something goes wrong? (or how would I go about making one)

To make a backup, hold Start to boot Hourglass9 and choose sysNAND then SysNAND backup.
If freeShop is already installed it will be an icon with a black shopping bag. Otherwise you can install it from the TitleDB feature of FBI. Then you'll need to visit the 3DS titlekeys site to get the QR code for enctitlekeys.bin and scan in in freeShop.

Thanks, I'm creating a backup now. I had a look and didn't see the black shopping bag icon. How would I launch FBI and use this titledb feature?

Do you have an icon that says FBI? If not, try the health and safety app, it might be in there. If it isn't, you'll have to inject it (section V of https://3ds.guide/installing-arm9loaderhax)

I don't see any icon that says FBI, and I don't see anything in the health and safety app to suggest FBI either.

I looked at section V, when I boot with power+start, I get a luma3ds configuration screen, and I don't see a GodMode9 option to press.

The option in section III are all ticked. When I press start to save, it boots into what looks like the normal 3ds system.

You'll have to download the bin file for Hourglass9 and put it in the luma/payloads folder and rename it start_hourglass9.bin. And did you definitely open the health and safety app, not just look at the icon?
