I'm trying to ROM hack on a 2DS, and would like to attempt the CIA method. Any help given is appreciated, thanks.
the better methods are Decrypt9/GodMode9 (on-console) or 3dsconv (PC).simple cia converter. I think u still need xorpads for it though which u can get with decrypt9. there's probably an easier method. I just haven't looked into it much.
D9 is failing to load. Would you happen to know any possible cause?Decrypt9 can convert .3DS to .CIA. The path to follow in Decrypt9 is Content Decryptor Options -> CIA Builder Options -> Build CIA from NCCH/NCSD.
Make a files9 folder on the root of your SD card. Make a D9Game folder inside of the files9 folder. Place your .3ds inside of the D9Game folder.
How is it failing to load? How are you trying to run D9?D9 is failing to load. Would you happen to know any possible cause?
Via Homebrew. I try to load it, then it sends me back to the Homebrew menu. Am I supposed to run it through Luna or GodMode9 instead? How is it failing to load? How are you trying to run D9?
What system version are you on?Via Homebrew. I try to load it, then it sends me back to the Homebrew menu. Am I supposed to run it through Luna or GodMode9 instead?
Decrypt9 can dump carts to CIAs.Last time I dumped carts, I used gateway's cart dumper and RX Tools' xorpad generator or watever those tools, I forgot already..
Are there any better ways now?

Chain Loading? Sounds strangely familiar, yet I cannot seem to remember it.try using the chain loading method with start. that's how I did it anyway. I'm using hourglass now. never tried godmod9.
If you don't have CFW, you need to install it first via http://3ds.guide, then download Decrypt9WIP and place Decrypt9WIP.bin into luma/payloads. Hold Start while booting your system and them select Decrypt9WIP to open it.11.3
Aha, I do have CFW, thanks for reminding meIf you don't have CFW, you need to install it first via http://3ds.guide, then download Decrypt9WIP and place Decrypt9WIP.bin into luma/payloads. Hold Start while booting your system and them select Decrypt9WIP to open it.
Make sure you have updated Luma by replacing your arm9loaderhax.bin file with the one in v7.0.1.Aha, I do have CFW, thanks for reminding me
Thanks, I did that, anyway, when following the instructions given above, D9 states that nothing has been found inside the folder.Make sure you have updated Luma by replacing your arm9loaderhax.bin file with the one in v7.0.1.
I cannot find the program.I think u need the ncch (spelling?) which u can get from simple cia manager. it will scan ur cia files, make an ncch, then u use that in decrypt9 to create xorpads. after that, open simple cia manager again and create the cia's from the xorpads. that's basically the process I mentioned. there's obviously an easier one though. my process does work, and it shouldn't take much time if it's one game. it can batch convert btw.
