No matter what type of formatted drive I use, it always gives me a write error. I've tried a 32gb sd card adapted to a usb, and an 8gb flash drive. Gamecube games work fine though.

Put Cleanrip on the 32GB SD card in an /apps folder and dump it to the SD slot. Then you can transfer the game to your USB drive on your computer. It's a bit awkward but you only have to do it once. :)

Wii Sports seemed to work, but it gave me two corrupted iso files.

I didn't understand a thing you just said.

Take your 32GB SD card and put CleanRip on it by itself. Then put the SD card in the Wii's slot rather than a SD->USB adapter and run CleanRip from the HBC on the SD. It should be able to dump the game to the card without freezing via the console's slot. If you want to use the card with the adapter to run the games too then just erase it after you've copied the dump games to your computer and transfer them back to it.

You likely will get at least two files for most games since FAT32 files can only be 4GB. They need to be merged into one ISO. "copy file1 /B + file2 /B newfile.iso /B"

I'm running cleanrip from a 2gb card in the sd card slot on the Wii. Then I'm using either the 32gb adapter or the 8gb flash drive to dump the game onto, both of which give me write errors. So what you're saying is, transfer the stuff including cleanrip from the 2gb sd card to the 32 gb and put that in the Wii's sd slot. Then dump the game to the sd card. Correct? And I'm a noob to abbreviated terms (I didn't know what CFW meant until a few months ago), what's HBC?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

And then how do you combine iso files?

CGF Usb Loader and UsbloaderGX can dump games also.

If only there was a way to rip Skyward Sword off of my Wii U. I bought it with some of my Christmas money and never played it. At least MyNintendo gave me 30% off of it.

CleanRip does not seem to have good compatibility with USB devices. I was able to rip a game through the front SD slot with a 16GB MicroSD, though. I would definitely try it with that first.

One way to do this is to get the ticket associated with your purchase from your Wii U with tik2sd, downloading the encrypted data from nintendo with FunkiiU (or similar tools) by using the ticket for the titleid of skyward sword, decrypting it with JNUSTool by renaming the downloaded folder to tmp_titleid and then converting the wii game from the proprietary nfs format to iso with NFS2ISO2NFS.
In my opinion skyward sword is one of the weakest Zelda titles as the world feels sparse, it involves revisiting areas a lot and includes many mandatory fetch quests but the music and graphics were still pretty good.
Matthew Matosis has made a great review of this game where he also explains why he got tired of the game after some time, but explains it pretty objectively, a great watch imo.
And. it. doesn't. remember. you. collected. that. useless. bug/collectible. after. you. continue. your. game.!??!?!
So if you think it's worth it to take all these steps here you go.

Now I want to know how to get my Mega Man 9 and 10 DLC off of my Wii U without homebrewing or hacking it. I was able to get saves off of it, but MM9 and 10 don't want to copy their saves.

You could dump the NAND and possibly use the tickets/certs to download it manually with NUS Downloader. Of course, this is yet another convoluted process. ;)
