My Wii isn't reading disks and is clicking like crazy. I took it apart, but I can't figure out what's wrong. (I still have it apart.) Does anybody know how to fix it without buying a new one (or buying parts)? I can't find any guides to fix it, and I can't send it to Nintendo for assistance. I would love some help on this. Thanks. (Also, I'm sorry if I'm breaking the rules, but I'm new and have no idea what I'm doing.)

Only other options I can think of is to either try adjusting the POT (don't know how common this is on the Wii, but it was a common fix on older consoles) or to switch to softmodding.

edit:

BTW, are the discs retail and unscratched or burnt? My old stereo has this issue with burnt discs but is fine with pressed discs.

Yes, the disks are retail, but they aren't scratched. And I'm not used to working on Wii's. Could you explain what either one of those options are?

The POT is basically a little dial you turn (haven't done it myself but I found at least one unverified guide) and softmodding would basically involve running games from a usb drive.

Don't ask me how to get the games on there though.

Well, I'm trying to fix it for my mom, that's why I'm trying to get it to play disks, so she can use it easily. She's disabled.

In some ways then she may benefit from a usb loader then, with a usb loader all the games could be on the system so they dont need to be physically inserted and you can install either a channel to link to the loader or use priiloader to autoboot the loader instead of the system menu.

Otherwise beside tweaking the POT there's no other option I can think of (without buying either a new console (even second hand cheap)/drive/laser) if you've cleaned the lens.
