3DS 11.4 Firmware Update Available

0hnqi7q.png

Just today, Nintendo 3DS firmware 11.4.0-37 has been released. I saw no other posts on this so far, so I am posting it. Here is what I found so far has been either temporarily or permanently broken/patched.

BootNTR Selector: Working with latest version (2.7.3)

UDSploit: Patched

Soundhax: Patched (Finally Nintendo... Lmao)

Safehax: Doesn't work without UDSploit, so therefore broken.

11.4.0-37 fixes the slowdown bug for some games like OOT3D that 11.3.0-36 has introduced. Confirmed by @Feffe

Please let me know if anything else got patched. Yes, of course, if you have A9LH+Luma3DS, you can safely update.

There's still no payload for o3ds 11.4, but the 11.2 payload. if renamed, works fine.

For O3ds, with this workaround, the update from 11.3 to 11.4 is worthwhile.

actually, if you installed Luma and A9LH BEFORE updating to 11.x, then 11.4 will still allow you to run 3DS roms. Not sure about BootNTR, BootNTRSelector and BootNTR Mode 3. I'm still on 11.3, and will NOT update until an exploit is found for this one. I'm pretty sure someone (cough*smea*cough) will. Nintendo has already lost the 3DS hacking war. They can't "unhack" already-hacked 3DS systems featuring the apparently invincible combo of A9LH and Luma.

Nintendo can do something.

they can interfere with luma's patches.

but luma can update to fix it.

and they can't stop you from downgrading once you have a9lh, unless they figure out a way to bypass the firm protection. this is a difficult task, or they would have already done it with 11.4

do u have a link with the update payload

Also i updated to 11.4 from 11.3 with stable luma 3ds/a9 and everything is fine except homebrew (but some people are saying to update to luma nightly release to fix a reboot issue, what is the issues specifically, as i have noticed anything weird ?)
Download 11.2 payload and rename to 11.4 works perfect

something to do with legal 3ds rom hacking, i think. (allows distributing only the modified files)
I tought the ips patching did this already...

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I read again the changelog and now i understand. I think it will be much better than salty sd. That took lots of time.

It was always safe, and luma 7.0 just means that it is more stable, has new 3ds sighax support (even though bootrom hasn't been dumped yet), fixed reboot issues and has something about layeredFS support (I don't know exactly what is this).
I had heard it broke installed cias even if you had Luma.Did I misunderstand?

Yes. When i used salty sd, it took lots of time to take every single randomized folder for pokemon sun. Now, for my understanding, it will be simply dragging a romfs file.
ROMfs requires you to have the entire size of the game, redirecting the resources the game looks for to the SD/MicroSD card while keeping the original eShop/Cartridge untouched. So things like Pokemon Randomizers do this. The only example of IPS patching I've ever done is Pokemon Ash Gray, which requires you have a decrypted .gba rom and you apply a patch to it to change the game permanently.

...At least I think I explained that properly. Anyone care to correct me?

This is crazy...

Please excuse me if this has been already asked, but, what I understood is this:
- Nintendo releases 11.4
- Updating will delete everything, unless you have Luma + A9.
- And that's only if you Lumaed your 3DS before 11.2?
- And in order to update to latest firmware with O3DS requires to make tremenduos tasks (I'm a lazy guy)
- And, it will update the FIrmware, but will delete NDS and GBA and Homebrew?
- And who knows what Nintendo has patched with 11.4, so, if you update, you may not be able to downgrade in the future?
plus
- There's no entry points for 11.4 yet, so if you loose something by accident you may not be able to recover?

Did I got everything right?

I have never heard of this problem... but since I'm not the most active member here i can't confirm anything. I'm still sticking to 11.3 for awhile anyways, since I don't play online nor do I play oot3d

Updating won't delete anything, and updating o3ds is the same as updating new 3ds. If you have luma'ed your 3ds at any point and don't care about ntr streaming you should update. It is completely safe, you just need to update your luma to 7.0 or the latest nightly. But if you don't have a9lh it will not be possible to get cfw on latest firmware, so follow https://3ds.guide before updating. You will be able to downgrade on 11.4, but only if you got cfw. I think i covered all your questions, feel free to ask if you got more.

No. Basically all of that is wrong.
The only thing you got right is 11.4 can't downgrade

This is how it is.
11.4 is upgrade-able if you have Luma+A9LH.
Keeping it as is will result in broken DS/DSi/GBA as it requires a reboot. To fix this, update luma to 7.0
Keeping it as is will result in broken NTR Selector, upgrade selector by holding X on launch.
Keeping it as is will correct the OoT3D slowdown. No fix required.

If you do not have Luma+A9LH apparently there's now a way to do it on 11.3 and you can check out OperationiDroid for links if you can't be bothered to look for links here or read what's been posted. 22 pages is a lot I know.
If you have 11.2 or lower, install Luma+A9LH as it's quite easy. Luma 7.0 fixes O3DS support if I'm mistaken, again if I'm wrong someone correct me, quick!

I have Luma A9 and I'm in 11.2.
This is so confusing. Seems like there's some persons who has problems and some who doesn't.
At least, that's my impression

Did I got everything right?

1. patches more exploits, so there's no way to downgrade from 11.4 without a9lh and luma
2. 11.3 is perfectly fine.
3. I don't what ur referring to.
4. that is false. I tested a DS game and homebrew both work with latest luma hourly or possibly luma 7.0
5. I've already downgraded once from 11.4. there were no problems with it.
6. backup ur NAND on several drives and leave it on the sd card.
