It works better on sysNAND not on redNAND.
That has become abundantly clear from every interaction I've had with the community since following the guide. Unfortunately, I had no reason to seek the input of the community before doing the hack, or I'd have skipped redNAND.

Issue with wiiu.guide is that it's not only bad but alot of people screwed up their Wii Us and doesn't explain anything and forces everything, even a redNAND which is a tool for developers and never was intended to play games on, then... i seriously i don't know...

You quite understand that there are people that prefer using Rednand instead of sysnand because they want to keep their sysnand as clean as possible and choosing Rednand over sysnand is their choice of course. See there is no need for ranting every time someone says that he/she is using rednand. I too tested apps/games on both sysnand and rednand so I'm quite familiar with both environments but I also prefer rednand for the reasons above. Another thing is that I fail to see in the app's description that it is exclusive for/or works better on sysnand. FYI it is also working very well on rednand so don't spread false rumors.

@Ryuzaki_MrL

I tested the latest commit and the "failed to open directory" warning screen is fixed. I tested backing up some games and they work perfectly. The only game that gave me an error saying that the "backup was corrupt" was Yoshi Woolly. However I compared all backups against saviine's saves and the binaries were all identical. Even with the warning your app backup Yoshi's save and it was also correct. The only thing different from the Yoshi's saves vs the saves from the other games is that Yoshi only saves at the common folder, it doesn't use 80000x. I don't know if this could be related. Thanks for your efforts.

That error is displayed when the user save backup fails, so it's OK since Yoshi only uses common.

That's a problem on the 3ds side too. It's less of a problem since it leads to the "masterrace setup", but what about the people who want to keep using a Gateway (for cheats (NTR exists, I know that, I even contributed to a Pokemon cheat, but that's far from as convenient as Gateway cheats)) but want to install a9lh for a faster boot? You have to understand the guide for that, understand when a9lh is installed, not necessarily update your sysNAND, not move your emuNAND to sysNAND either, keep your emuNAND, then follow the v2gw tutorial somewhere else. How can a Gateway user know this? No wonder why they install Gateway's FastBullshit instead.

Well, I guess the few people who use a Gateway for the only reason why it's still relevant (cheats, other than that free CFWs are better) know what they are doing, but it's not thanks to the guide.

Appstore updated with 1.2.0

also these lines are included in the appstores meta.xml for your app

<category>tool</category>
<url>https://github.com/Ryuzaki-MrL/savemii/releases</url>

could you include those in further releases , or grab the app from the store and it will contain them already .. thanks for the application submission on the store . :)

I tried to use this so I can dump my Zelda Breath of the Wild savefiles and... it got my USB corrupted, now I can't delete the corrupted files.
I had my game on the USB hard drive, I dumped the savefiles from there and then I deleted the old ones using the Wii U's Apps manager, when I try to restore the data using this app then it restores some savefiles without date or time and when I try to delete them the console refuses to do it, can someone help me here?.

EDIT: It doesn't matter anymore, I managed to delete the corrupted savefile thanks to Ftpiiu, however I lost my savegame, I have one in my SD Card but it seems corrupted.

Just installed this a minute ago first time using it, am I missing something or there doesn't seem to be a way to specify to install the save to the usb? That's the whole reason I want to use it transfer saves from internal to external hdds.

Here's my other issue ok with Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze. I have the disc and I have it on loadiine but I now have it on my external hdd and I want the save. When I choose import from loadiine (there is a save there) it says "failed to open directory"

Can this be use to transfer save to different Wii U?
Yes, but...
Users have ID numbers. You'd have to make a single-user backup to slot x from the old WiiU, and slot y on the new WiiU, then compare the 8000000n ID numbers under sd:/wiiu/backups/titleid/x and sd:/wiiu/backups/titleid/y . If they don't match, you have to rename all the x/8000000n folders to the number found in y before you try to restore them. If either machine has multiple users, you'd have to do single-user backups for each of those users to find their ID numbers, and match up the corresponding ID numbers between machines.

So - possible, but not simple.

Hi,

Need a help to restore a Super Mario Maker save. I used this homebrew to backup the save files from a flash drive and restore to a HDD but as it seems it was unsuccessful. I got an error when I boot the game saying that the USB is not receiving enough power (?) (my HDD is normal as a play other games with no problem). And neither I can delete the saves with the Data Manager.

I make a dump of the save files in USB with ftpiiu and it seems that some files have been corrupted in the process. So, what can I do in this case?

Let me ask you, how do you delete the saves with ftpiiu? Everywhere I search people recommends to only replace/move files, never delete.

I have two NNIDs on my WiiU, tried to move BoTW savefile from one to the other. I use BrowseHax (don't use haxchi) so before I dump the savefile I loaded Mocha from Homebrew Launcher, and then loaded Savemii and dumped. Then when I tried to restore it (I changed the NNID and loaded Mocha again) the screen shows "Common Save Not Found" but I did play the game using that NNID (Didn't even get the sheika slate, just got out from the water bed in the shrine of resurrection, but I guess that's enought, isn't it?)

However, the screen shows "Common Save Not Found" til I press A and then it shows "Restore Failed". Any help?

Try updating SaveMii to 1.2.0, as the "failed to open directory" is gone.
Also, loadiine keeps separate savefiles for each game version (v16, v32, etc), so check if you're importing from the correct version (or v0 if you use an old loadiine build or don't have a game update).

Does this issue also occurs with saves stored on NAND?

Does this only occurs with titles stored on NAND?

Also, looks like removing the savefile via data management and then restoring via savemii is causing issues. I'm not sure why, but for now I recommend not doing this. Either remove via SaveMii (it has a "wipe savedata" option) or remove via data management THEN let the game create a new file.

If you're already facing this, try deleting the folder manually via FTPiiU_Everywhere (storage_mlc:/usr/save/<titleid> or storage_usb:/usr/save/<titleid>)

The games are in USB. I tried the wipe savedata option but still the data management doesn't let me delete the saves.

Note: Looks like my old drive is the culprit here. I backed up my Super Mario Maker save data using ftpiiu and there are some files with 0kb (my save is fine, it was in another account that the save corrupted and I didn't notice). It's a pity, I didn't want to lost my progress and stages in this game.

How about single user transfer to clean Wii U?

Is changing to Loadiine save date, then do the regular Loadiine -> system save transfer work?

That doesn't change my answer. You still need to make sure the IDs match. If the old machine only ever had one ID, and that ID was never deleted, the old ID number will probably match the first ID made on the new machine, but probably isn't good enough.

I'm not using Loadiine saves, so I'll let someone else answer that.

does it work to backup botw and restore? im a little afraid...
Of course, it always works to backup saves. As for restoring, some games can be picky but it should work for Botw because it worked without issues with saviine. And this does literally the same thing. You generally want to backup your saves then upload them online to Dropox or Google Drive to keep them safe forever. I backup my Botw save every now and then and upload it in a zip.
