The Nintendo Switch sold over 900k units in March (North America)

Despite the hype leading to a frequent lack of stock online, Nintendo's newest home console ended up selling 906,000 units in the month of its launch. This makes the Switch one of the fastest selling Nintendo consoles in the company's history. Console sales weren't the only thing reported, either, as sales figures for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild were revealed as well. The Switch version of the game moved 925,000 copies, oddly outselling the target console itself. In the case of the Wii U version, there were 460,000 games sold.

People probably preordered the game with the intent to order the console when it became available. Some people are still having a hard time finding the consoles I believe.

Really? I could've sworn other sources said the Switch sold 1.5 million in it's launch week...

Either way, that's not bad sales-wise, a little under both the Xbone and the PS4 if these numbers are right, but launch sales mean jack. If Nintendo can get a properly good E3 going and announce more than 2 games for 2017 that'd be a good start.

Or some people tend to buy two copies with the second one sealed for the unsealed collection (or to sell it on ebay for a rip-off price).
Because there were more copies of the game available than the switch itself, it may have very well been scalpers. Pretty much anything that was available was bought.

The 1.5 million was reference to global sales, these 900,000 are just US sales.

Yep. They set the bar themselves, and more than anything they need to reach it. So much potential in the switch with all of Nintendo's IPs. I hope to be pleasantly surprised this summer, even if I still doubt them after this 3ds-oriented direct.
