I did this years ago with Fallout 4 and I was able to play the game 12 hours early by connecting to Australia. I'm doing it again here and I checked the store on my browser and the countdown is still the same from my own timezone and I cleared my cache and cookies.

Can anyone confirm if this still works? Maybe they have fixed this loophole since then.

I'm positive this trick has been fixed since I last tried it. The game would be available now according to Austrailia time but I still got "1 Day left"

Steam I assume.

Last I checked it still works with Steam. Are you sure it has a regional release time? A lot of Steam games recently have just had one global unlock time, rather than regional times, probably to cut down on early unlocks.

The game I'm referring to is Yooka-Laylee on Steam, I didnt mean to hide that.

The odd thing is there isnt even an option to preload the game so maybe its not even on their server yet until the game's launch date.

Didn't work for me with an aussie exit point...
Thanks for checking. Just to be sure you should check the steam storepage from a web browser first then use the steam client. The timer will not always show correctly from the client but download anyways (in my experience.)

Ya I was lazy and did just the browser anyway. Didn't feel like firing up sockscap just for steam or diverting all my traffic through my vpn.

I've watched Playtonic's Twitter and people who received kickstarter codes (like me) are getting to play it right now on their consoles. PC gamers get the short end of the stick for some reason.

Really? That's not what A. Payment Authorization says about using proxies or VPNs. Where does it say it's okay to use them? I didn't see that anywhere aside from section A.

"If you do this, Valve may terminate your access to your Account."

This does not mean instant-ban.. VAC bans are permanent and irreversible. The fact someone could accidentally forget they are using a vpn does not warrant a VAC ban.

Valve don't care about VPN usage unless it's to purchase stuff at a cheaper price. They don't just throw out account bans because you were connected with a vpn.
