If you're using CBHC, don't boot Mocha over it's own CFW. Set it to boot Mocha instead. And obviously download Mocha to your SD Card first.

@Ryuzaki_MrL Just so you know, while this app is pretty nice, it doesn't yet work with both NAND and USB Wii U saves (it defaults to USB saves - presumably uses NAND if no USB is inserted), or with some vWii saves (most notably Virtual Console titles) that I had to dump with Savegame Manager DX instead.

It defaults to where the title is, so it should work unless the title is on USB and the save is on the NAND (not sure if this is possible).
As for Wii Virtual Console, the saves are stored on slccmpt (vWii NAND) and can be dumped/injected by selecting "vWii Save Management" (tested myself with Super Mario Galaxy 2).

New release!

Changelog:
- Fix savedata backup/restore for disc titles
- Separate backups by user
- Add loadiine support
- Move backups folder to sd:/wiiu (you need to move your backups from sd:/wiiu/apps/savemii to the new location)
- Savedata wiping
- Task selection now comes after title selection

Still get the message "Failed to open Save Directory" using Mocha.

I have a problem...

I wanted to try this tool so I backuped my SSB save to SD card. This worked and I have my save on the SD Card.
Then I deleted my save in the Wii U data management.
I launch the game to check that my save file has been cleared: OK

Now, I want to restore my save, so I restored it with savemii, I have no error message so I guess it worked but when I launch the game, my save isn't here!
Why ? How can I restore my save? What did I miss?

Try letting the game create a new savefile first, then restore the backup.

Does this build works for you?

I want to bakcup a ZeldaBOTW savefile, then format the console and then restore it with a different NNID, has anyone tried something similiar?

I don't want to screw it up and start over the game

I had the error too, and now...
I still get "Failed to open directory" displayed several times (at boot, after making a backup, maybe at other moments too) but I managed to backup it seems. I'll create a new user quickly and check if I can restore.
edit Not sure if I failed or if the software failed but I couldn't restore my save from some user to another user.

Still using Mocha though, is it supposed to work on Haxchi alone?

I am having the same, "failed to load directory" error. Also, i'm trying to move a save from cemu to my wii u, do i just have to put the save folder, renamed to the title ID of BOTW, to the backup folder?

I'm speculating that the "Failed to open directory" error comes from the titles themselves. It seems that certain titles are causing problems.
I have one title installed and it's on NAND, Savemii 1.1.0 worked perfectly fine (With just one directory error after attempting to backup a save)
The one that occurs while backing up the save seems to be linked to another problem. It asks to backup the common folder, but for most games this does not exist. Even saviine gets this error, I ignore it.

My friends on the other hand, have several games installed including VC. They get the directory error at boot up and can't use the app at all. It doesn't seem to be rednand related, because one friend uses it while the other doesn't. It's just a matter of titles, since my friend reported that it'll show "loaded 15 titles" before it gives the directory error. The rednand friend does have question mark icons on his home menu, not sure if those are interfering.

1st game: Tokyo Mirage- backup no problems.

2nd game: Mario 3D World-backup no problems.

3rd game: MK8- backup only 800000x, it didn’t backup the common folder.

4th game: NES Remix Pack: I never played the game thus I won’t have a save for it so it is obvious it would throw me an error.

Winmerge comparison showed Binary as Identicals

The first directory error is because there are no savefiles on vWii or they couldn't be accessed for whatever reason.
The second one is because the common folder doesn't exist.

I've removed this "Failed to open directory" message in the latest commit as it was not helpful at all (vWii save management warns when no saves are found, and there's already the "Common save not found" error).

About the second one I find it strange because with saviine MK8 dumped both 80000x and common folder while in you app it only backup 80000x and ignored the common folder. Are you sure this is normal? This app is very helpful.

I've watched the video and noticed that both the common and user folders were being copied to sd:/wiiu/backups/<titleid>/<slot>/8000000x, and that's not intended behaviour. Already pushed a new commit with the fix.

I don't know if my problems originate with SaveMii or something else. After freshly hacking (with wiiu.guide, putting me on RedNAND with Mocha), none of my five previously-played disc games showed save data in game (still playing from disc), despite the Wii U's Data Management showing existing old files. I could start a new game, and that new save file would show up the next time I launched the game, but Data Management still showed my old save file.

I used disc2app and wup installer to get the games all onto my hard drive. I used Ftpiiu to grab all of my save files, and organized them by hand for SaveMii. I started each game so that a save file exists, then imported everything using SaveMii. Three of the five games are working great. (Wind Waker HD, New Super Mario Bros U + New Super Luigi U, and Mario Kart 8) Two are not:

Super Mario 3D World claims to import correctly, but when I launch the game, I get Error Code 199-9998. It requires me to reboot the console. When I go back in, there's no error, but it shows the save I created just before importing.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U imports correctly, and mostly works great. If it tries to display the stage select screen, it stalls. The music still plays, and pressing the Home button displays the "you can't press that at this time" icon on both TV and gamepad. If I change the settings to use a random stage (this is different from choosing random during stage select), it works fine. Other game modes which don't include stage select work fine as well.
