Hey, got a quick and simple request for a BotW hack, if it's even possible:

PRO mode removes most of the HUD (heads-up-display) elements from the screen, except for hearts.

Is it possible to make those hearts invisible, or at least transparent? They burn in on plasma HDTVs...

They disappear during cutscenes, and when you talk to NPCs. I'd like it if they only show up in the pause menu and on the map, and not during gameplay.

Would be neat if it's possible to remove all HUD elements in other Zelda games too.

Thanks for any info.

Create SDCaffine mod for it to replace HUD elements with one from SDCard.
Still, removing hearts is like... man. You never know when you're going to die.

Making the hearts mostly transparent would be most balanced easy solution; you could still see them, but they wouldn't cause burn-in as much on plasma HDTVs.

Making the hearts only show up briefly when Link is damaged, and when the pause / map screens are pulled up would be my preference, but that would require some coding rather than just asset replacement.

Why not change color contrast so "soft/warm"? Most HDTVs have this option.

That reduces burn-in? I'll have to give it that a try, thanks.

I'd still like to make the hearts transparent or invisible in BotW, though. I'm a fan of minimal GUI -- loved how the Dead Space games handled it.

Create SDCaffine mod for it to replace HUD elements with one from SDCard.
Got a link to a tutorial on how to do this? Is this only possible if you load games via SD? I load from a hard drive.

There's no tutorial for mod creation but you must launch SDCaffine everytime you want transparent hearts for example.

Is there a way to make the hearts invisible or transparent via hard drive loading, or is it only possible via SD loading / SDCaffiine?

I recall reading somewhere that it's possible to decrypt the game files, edit things like hearts' appearance, re-encrypt the game, and re-install it to achieve this end. I think it was in the BotW undub thread...

You can either repack the game or just FTP the altered files.

We've managed working .pack repacks, but the files inside those, Yaz0 compressed SARCs as .ssarc, .sblarc, etc, don't seem to repack properly with existing tools. More info at my thread.

By the way, that was content\Pack\Bootup.pack\Layout\Common.sblarc. I suspect blanking out the heart texture won't stop the blinking effects though.
