Desmume will probably never run games full speed really, you shouldn't bother trying it at all.

Though I'm a bit confused what you mean when you say "retroarch desmume that is only for 3ds game", since Desmume is just a DS emulator, it doesn't run 3DS games at all, just DS games in .nds format

Even with use of GPU can't run DS games? But why? Ok the PSV is not so powerful, but even the DS...

The main reason is simply because current DS emulators are unoptimized ass. Desmume wasn't designed to run on ARM, and while it was ported to the Vita it's still very unoptimized for the hardware.

If ExoPhase would port DraStic (or made it open source) we'd probably have at least a semi decent DS emulator (since the Vita isn't exactly all that powerful, it probably won't run too many games full speed). But that's never going to happen, so we're stuck with Desmume.

What about that thing about systems needing to be 8x (or was it 10x?) more powerful than the systems that they are trying to emulate?
If that is true, then the PS Vita should be far more than powerful enough to run games on an optimized DS emulator at full speed, right?

That's a general guideline, not really a strict rule.

The main problem, though, is the CPU for the Vita. It's max speed is 444mhz, which isn't necessarily a lot in the grand scheme of things. ExoPhase used to (I dunno if he still does ) use a Pandora for DraStic testing, which had a 1GHz A8 CPU and it just "barely" runs games at playable speeds.

I thought that it was faster than that because of the Wikipedia page for its processor that says that the max clock rate is 0.8 to 2 GHz.
Is there a reason for it being so much slower?
Downgraded version, heating issues, system using a lot of it, etc.?

Those numbers are the factory speeds that ARM reports, not what the Vita actually uses. The Vita only has access to 444mhz fully clocked, nothing higher can be achieved without possibly damaging the system or blowing through the battery in 2 minutes.

The Vita is severely underclocked to avoid overheating and to increase battery life. Hell, some games that run at the 444mhz clock can cause the Vita to get relatively hot to the touch, so clocking it higher would be asking for trouble.

Why does the New 3DS not have that issue?

I have no clue, I know almost nothing about 3DS hacking. AFAIK it's 800mhz or something

Okay.
I was just asking because it seems odd that the PS Vita would have overheating and battery life problems despite being underclocked, and that the New 3DS might not, despite running at a higher clock speed.
